This is the problem with these generations of human beings, they have not tasted real poverty they have not tasted real war famine disease tyranny.
For some god forsaken reason they inherently believe that it CANT POSSIBLE get any worse than it is now.

I don't think I would go as far as saying that these generations of human beings don't have a taste of real poverty, but rather many who don't realize they are in poverty because everyone around them is in the same boat, and/or there are many who are not in poverty but have a disconnect and lack of understanding just how much less they earn in comparison to them. (not sure if I worded that right). A good example is what took place between my brother and I about 20 years ago, when I was living in poverty. Thankful, It's not that way today, and I live a comfortable life.
We use to go camping a lot with my grandparents, parents, uncles, brother's, all the family. Probably 3 or 4 times a year. The last day of each camping trip, the family always stopped and had a dinner or pie and coffee at a restaurant along the drive home. I always had to refuse. One day my brother, who at the time made close to $90k a year (that was 20+ years ago), asked my why I could never afford to have dinner/coffee, etc with the family. He so happened to ask me on a day I just did my taxes.. so I went out to the car, got my tax return and handed to him and told him this is why. I made $15k, working 3 jobs that year.
After he looked at my taxes, he looked at me and asked how do I survive... I told him by not going to dinners, having coffee, roommates, barely living. Then I told him to subtract another $6k I pay in child support each year for 2 kids. (Washington State, which was not kind to father's back then). That was the last time he ever questioned me about why I can't afford something, because from then on, he understood. But until them, he was disconnected from the reality that not everyone around him made similar income. He really had no idea.
My point of telling you this interaction is to show you just how easy it is for people to have no clue about the reality of those living in poverty around them, including family. Truth be told, it is those that are in poverty who generally don't cast their votes, which is another reason these people like Manchin stay in office because those in poverty already feel defeated and usually are under the assumption their vote won't matter.
