ALL the human polls have Mizzou > KU

So naturally KU skips ahead of Mizzou because they didn't have to play OU (AT ALL); whereas, Mizzou had to play them twice.

Way to go BCS, way to go.

probably because

ku lost to mizzo who had lost to a top 10 team

mizzo lost 2 games to a top 10 team who lost to 2 unranked teams.

loss record hurt them more than their win record helped.

That's a cop-out. If the spread offense lets a team with a weaker offense be more productive, it should also let a team with a potent offense be similarly more productive. It's within the rules of the game and it works for a lot of teams.

I'm no happier than you are to see OSU going up against LSU (I would have much rather seen OSU play in the Rose Bowl and have a shot at winning), but I'm not about to take anything away from LSU by claiming that the spread offense is covering up some sort of ineptitude. The simple fact is that the spread works and it's 100% within the rules of football.

You might as well claim that the forward pass is just a way to get away with a lot of things and cover up the fact that the offense can't get the job done by going at the game straight (that is, by running the ball).

LSU isn't really a spread team, iirc. I'm talking of teams in general. and I never claimed it was not a viable option, I just would rather not see it. It's just not the kind of ball I want to watch.
however, I'm not afraid of LSU. It'll be a good game imho and I think OSU has a chance, as long as they actually practice their game over the break. I would rather NOT see us go to the Rose Bowl if there is the option of going to the NC game. Rose Bowl is something we've been to numerous times and have won it on many occasions. I'd prefer the NC game whenever possible, and gives OSU a chance at redemption from last year.

i don't really get where I'm not happy. I love that we are going up against LSU. I've been wanting this for the past week. I hate the SEC and would love for the chance to beat one of their teams. Maybe it'll get the momentum going for the Big 10 to start getting the recruits and building up the conference to where it was a decade ago.
oh and I was hoping Les Miles would go to Michigan, if only to help build up their team so that would be 2 strong teams in the Big 10, with the other schools having the ability to still field decently strong teams.

I have to say that this is all pretty much how we expected it to wind up.

really? i guess if vt was a little higher, instead of being bcs #3, they would be in the title game.

so OSU should get punished because they don't play this late in the year? that doesn't make any sense.

I disagree, that's part of it. Look at how Mizzou, WVU, LSU all folded towards the end stretch when they seemed like shoe ins for the national title. Out of those, this is probably the most evident for WVU. Although it is debatable, there's a lot more pressure going around for a team being super hyped by media to go to national championship with all of the final data coming in. Ohio State isn't under the same circumstances as these other teams when they played their games knowing a national championship was on the line.

LSU doesn't run the spread offense. They have a couple of spread formations that they occasionally line up in but they really don't run the spread offense.

What's done is done in my view, but WTF is up with Kansas facing the Hokies in the Orange Bowl? It makes no sense. SOOO much better if it had been WVU or OU.

Kansas teams have made 16 appearances in bowl games since 1992

Bell Helicopter Armed Forces
California vs. Air Force Fort Worth, Texas Dec. 31, 12:30 p.m. ESPN

so you're saying we got a chance

OSU should be penalized because they played a weakass non-conference schedule as well as the big ten being the weakest conference on top of not playing a championship game.

should've been LSU and OU/USC.

Damn the BCS!!! If they only used the original formula for the BCS it would be deja vu...LSU vs VT for the National Championship! The original BCS formula heavily weighted the computer polls even more. VT is #1 in the computers (0.960) with LSU close behind (0.950). Overrated State is further back at 0.910. I've always thought that OSU was over ranked and now this is just ridiculous!

I guess the only thing we can do is beat the !@#% out of Kansas (should have been Mizzou, IMO).

The computer polls look seriously messed up though.

Missouri played 3 teams that made a BCS bowl 4 times and ended up beating 2 of those teams. Kansas played 3 teams that ended with a winning record.

KUs 1 loss to a number 3 didnt hurt them as bad as it would have if it would have been an unranked team.

Umm no-- look at the rankings before being lame and insulting me.

Edit: Actually, CBS Sportsline updated everything else in their BCS formula except the standings (And that includes the teams record-- I see now that the Harris poll is showing correctly)

Umm, you need to look at the date on the rankings you are looking at.

It did hurt them, they were ranked 2 spots lower than Missouri in the standings.
