the best suggestion is just to not have a national championship.

I'm a Dawg myself, and I'd agree that if UGA would've played LSU last night, they would've won.

However, given a month to rest and get healthy again, it's possible LSU could be at--or very near--full strength, and this year, that would put them ahead of UGA.

Next year, on the other hand, is going to be interesting. Go Dawgs, and Geaux Tigers.

As for the best QB's... whether they do or don't, has NO BEARING on their rankings.

when it's a bunch of 2 loss teams (and tOSU), why not? you're really just taking in information, and now you might honestly think that OU with a healthy bradford is one of the two best teams in the country, much as it pains me to say it.

Because voters will remember how OU has lost to 2 unranked teams. I will agree that, if given more time, they may prove to be one of, if not the best, but at this point you can argue inconsistency.

(Keep in mind LSU's losses came in OT, VT lost one in final seconds and got blown out both by #2 teams)

-Kevin

they lost both ON THE ROAD.
va tech lost @ home.
usc lost @ home
lsu lost @ home.
uga lost @ home.
ohio st. lost @ home.

youre supposed to win @ home.

and i only threw the QBs in there to illustrate my point that the Big 12 is more than just OU this year as much as it pains people on the fringes of this country.

They are still UNRANKED. You don't lose to UNRANKED teams. VT barely lost at home (A loss IS a loss still though, the same applies for everyone else outside of OSU). You also have to keep in mind, pollsters can give a team a boost, but to boost them 7 ranks to number 2 is unheard of and ridiculous.

1. Missouri
2. WVU
3. OSU
4. Georgia
5. LSU
6. Kansas
7. VT
8. OU

Somehow after beating the #11 team VT drops a rank :-\ -- and WVU and Mizzou somehow hold their ranks. I'm so glad that poll counts for nothing.

I feel safe in saying VTech is not going to the BCS championship. Beating BC the second time around isn't going to help you just like OU beating Mizzou a second time isn't going to help. I remember in 2004, Auburn beating UT twice didn't do squat for them.

Yes, but OU is #9 and VT is #6. USC and LSU are both in front of OU and cannot be skipped over by OU merely winning the Big 12 championship.

'merely winning the big 12 championship'

im done w/ you. you have no idea what youre talking about.
8 teams in the big 12 are going to bowl games. the Big 12 has the best QBs in the nation top to bottom.

ou only beat the #1 team in the nation by 21 on a neutral field. that's all.

'merely winning the big 12'...

I don't know about this one... I think it's possible. Not only did OU win their conference but they also beat the #1 team in the land.

I had a big argument here but I just snipped it out. Reason: it's a mess.

and one of OU's losses came with their QB sitting on the bench.

One of Tech's losses came with Tyrod on the bench (BC). As much as we both would like to make that argument and excuses for the losses-- but in actuality we have to see that we lost.

-Kevin

heh, usc's first loss come with qb with broken hand and 2nd with a backup to a great oregon hehe these arguments dont work, i think voters may decide that lsu deserve to get a shot, as much as people like conference championship game, i actually like what the pac-10 does, everyone plays everyone (not like the big-10 where teams miss other teams, eg wisconsin missing ohio state last year) , if the sec did that, ga and lsu would both not be in consideration at this point.

FSU beat the #2 team in the country while unranked. Do you want to know how many ranks they moved up (I could only find CFN rankings )? Not even far enough to show up in the top 50 and they moved to 6-3 at the time!

I'm not asking to move up past LSU and USC!!!!! And not only that, apparently losing to unranked teams doesn't matter with OU- why does that immediately degrade my argument when an unranked team beats BC?

OU is not going to make it, Tech will likely move up to 3 or 4 and it will likely end up being OSU and LSU in the BCS Title game.

LSU is one of the most undisciplined teams in the the country...no way do they destroy someone for the crystal. The only team I think that would crush OSU straight up would be WVU because of the spread option.

As undisciplined as they are, they won the SEC championship (arguably the hardest conference) game with their starting quarterback and one of (if not THE) best defensive players in College Football on the sidelines.

Given a month to heal up, LSU will simply embarrass OSU. It won't even be a contest.

LSU should have beaten UT like a redheaded stepchild and yet managed to squeak out a 21-14 win. UT's secondary has more holes than a sieve...LSU should have been able to sling the ball all over the field, even with Perriloux under center.

I love college football and I love debating this with ya'll but I still wish teams that should have a shot at the title all get their chance.

I'm an Auburn alum, I'd rather have Auburn playing. The passionate debates are what make college football great. Soulless playoffs would suck the life out of I-A football.

You damn well better be please with it as an OSU fan, because you are a good team, but certainly not the best team in the country by a sizeable margin, yet you get to go AGAIN.

AP Polls are up... they aren't factored into BCS but here is a brief overview:

1. OSU
2. LSU
3. OU
4. Georgia
5. VT

I can't believe you jump OU 6 spots-- thats absurd.

USA Today poll is up... same as AP.

Ohio
LSU
OU
Georgia
VT

I hate how Ohio doesn't play yet moves from 5th to 3rd to 1st. I dislike how OU by beating Mizzou, even though they were expected to, jumps 6 ranks. Finally I dislike how Georgia doesn't play, they don't win their conference, they don't play in their championship yet they still are 4th.
