Are they making two different grades or what, I'm confused why you would have a model for asia and one for america ?

This gray market problem is not confined to computer parts and watches. You ought to see a chin drop when a buyer finds out it includes forklifts, luxury automobiles, trucks, airplanes and the lord knows what. Possession of some of this stuff can involve jail time. Consider yourself lucky that yours is a drop in the bucket.

Yep unless you got a retail packaged drive. Then the chances of getting the wrong one would be slim.

They are selling drives they bought on the grey market - it happens occasionally.. Nothing really shady about it - I'm sure they didn't buy them knowing they were "FOR EXPORT ONLY" drives..

Those would not come from a major disty, (Ingram TD, D&H, Synnex, etc), rather, they would come from MALabs or some of the other parts whores.

Newegg will take care of it - just call them.

I just received my new raptor from Newegg, this time it's made for the USA with the 5 year warrenty.
I'm glad newegg took care of this matter and they were fast about it.
I'll continue to order from them but more cautios now.
