Even if I wanted it, where the hell am I going to put it? No free/unobstructed PCI slots left.

MMMM....wedge it in the same slot as your sound card? Special sound effects with every physics related action!!

Yeah that game might help this sell a little better. Also hopefully price will be lower then too.

I cant wait to see this thing in action with a supported game. Will be interesting to see how much off-loading this will take from GPU/CPU in the real world.

im sure it can be arranged......get your DIY hat on.

hopefully the mounting holes are in fairly standar posistions...might be able to slap a VF 700 on it or something

I saw a clever ad for this in Maximum PC so I guess that's a good sign. If there's enough marketing, it may succeed.

Yeah it's one of those things that if enough peeps jump on it, a lot more game devels. will code for it and I think it add a lot to the experience of a game. Just hate to be one of the 1st 3000 or so people that buy it and find out not enough other peeps do and it never ends up being used in enough games and dies off...

I'd say eventually these things will be a must have. (at least for hardcore types.. ) Also I'd bet they wind up being intergrated onto the video card or even the motherboard.

Yeah, I remember Maximum PC being loaded with 3DFX ads and we all know how long that company lasted

And look where the graphics card industry is today, largely because of them :disgust:

Probably not for quite a while. Some devices (like sound cards says Creative) don't operate too well on the pcie channel. Im not sure if thats bs or not or if a physics card will have the same "problems" on pcie as sound cards. Either way I wouldn't bet on it for at least 1-2 years. I wouldn't be suprised however if they came out with a revision 2 in 6-8 months to iron out bugs in the card...

I can't see how these things are going to make a big difference. Look at games right now, such as Oblivion, that have killer physics. You can play Oblivion totally maxed with a 2.2 to 2.4ghz Athlon 64. Now, use a dual core Athlon, use one of the cores only for physics, and I don't see why you'd ever need to purchase an add-on card to handle the physics side.

I've wondered the same thing sometimes. We make GPU's to take stress off of the processor, then we give processors two cores, then we make a physics card to take stress off of the processor's core(s) and GPU(s)....wtf is the processor going to do?

Remember we also need a AI card

I can't stop laughing either; this guy is totally off his rocker!

Have you PLAYED Oblivion? Killer physics? Oblivion does have good physics, but compare it to what AGEIA is promising and it utterly pales in comparison. Seen the Cell Factor HD video?

The "extra CPU core" argument is an utter pile of trash too; why not throw out the GPU now that we can assign that extra CPU core to run graphics instead? It's not like we can put AI or animation on it, no way, it's just going to sit there forever doing nothing. Who needs a sound card, we can emulate all this stuff in software on our numerous slow CPUs! Specialized hardware is for the weak! *rolls eyes*

I take it some of you didn't see the demo of what this card is capable of. It is truly impressive, and there is no way any modern GPU would be able to handle it AND render the scene. This thing will be a graphics EVOLUTION.

Agreed. I'm down for one of these once there is a game out that can use it.
