Im in the process of building a new Ryzen 2700x with GTX 1080 rig and I’ve decided that my faithful, decade old Antec 300 Illusion case might need to be replaced. It’s loud, and lacks front USB 3 ports, and is a pain to deal with hard disks in.
I’ve come down to two options as a replcement, the Be Quiet! Pure Base 600 (with window) and the Corsair Graphite 230t and I’m having trouble deciding between them. The 600 is one of the quietest mid towers there is, but seems to suffer from a lack of airflow with the base fan config meaning I would have to add at least one more intake fan and possibly add exhaust fans on top.
The 230t is noisier, and has better airflow, but is difficult to find in plain black, plus the LED fans seem a little intrusive (though not as bad as the Antec).
I’m curious if anyone has either and has opinions on those two cases or other suggestions please feel free to share on them.

Newegg has the Fractal Design R6 on sale for $10 more than the Be Quiet case you mentioned above. It will have better airflow (especially if crack open the door when gaming), and is just about as quiet. I've read quiet a few reviews on the Be Quiet as I considered buying it at one time, but it is just too restrictive in the airflow department, which means you'll need to run your fans at higher RPMs, which will be louder.

The R6 won’t work for me as I need two 5 1/4 bays. I did look at the Focus G, but the flimsiness mentioned in a lot of reviews turned me off. Any other suggestions for cases that might fit the bill?

Just don't use a case then..you create a Benching Station.

I normally don't do this as a user, but I see post after post of yours in many threads over the last couple of days, and they are nothing short of trolling. Why do you feel the need to suggest to a user who asking about which case to get, to instead not use a case?

If you have nothing substantial to add to a discussion, just stay out of it.

The R5 has two 5.25" bays, and I use that case for two of my PCs. Remove one of the top Modu-vents (top of case), and add a 140mm fan there, and it provides a good balance airflow and silence. I also added a 140mm on the bottom to blow directly on my GTX 1080ti.

I’m not a huge fan of doors, but it at least leaves the option of better airflow if needed.
How are the temps at full load with the door closed?
I did see another couple of cases that looked interesting, the DIYPC Silence which seems similar to the R5 and the CoolerMaster MasterCase MC500.

My CPU and GPU run around 5c hotter if I leave the door shut. The door is removable if you don't like it, but it really does a great job of making it quiet. You don't even need to open it all the way. I literally crack mine about 2". With the extra airflow that allows in, along with my bottom and top case fan, it keeps it really cool.

When I let my PC doing F@H for days on end, my GTX 1080ti only hits 60c with the Nvidia fan profile set to around 35% - 40%.

After looking at more reviews the R5 Looks good, just a bit on the expensive side.
I did have two more cares I came across both by Nanoxia the Deep Silence Series (1.b - 3) and the Cool Force 1 or 2 Rev B with usb C.

I saw your opinion of Nanoxia fans isn't so high, but what about the cases themselves?

The Deep Silence 1 Rev. B was a case I strongly considered before getting the R5. I watched several YouTube reviews, and read several regular reviews on it, and it seems like it should be a good case. I just liked the features and layout of the R5 better, so that's why I ultimately went with it.

I ordered an R5 yesterday, should be here Wednesday.
I’m going to see how the cooling is with the stock fans before ordering more or replacing them.
I got really tempted by a Phanteks Enthoo Pro before ordering, but the size turned me off. I don’t need a massive full tower for what I want to do.
