BE6 and BE6-II bioses

I was studying the differences between the Abit BE6 and BE6-II...They seem to have the same features and High Point chipset. What would happen if I flashed the BE with the BE6-II bios???

It could fry you bios or leave your baord unstable. With that said are you still going to try it? I have a BE6 and while I was upgrading the bios, way back when, the update crashed on me. I talked to a rep over the phone, yes I live person, and he instructed me how to get my bios back. Don't know if you want to risk or not.

Another idea would be to send an email to abit support with the following:

"I accidently flashed my BE6 board's bios with VERSION of the BE6-II board's bios release. So far everything is working fine, but wanted to know if I shoud flash this back to the BE6 version XXX or is it okay to leave this alone?"

Give it a shot! Let me know what you findout. I have a BE6 also (ATA66 controller fried from OC).

Think of it, I don't see any significance advantage in flashing the BE6 to BE6-II.
I hate to loose the board. Gave 38.00 bucks for it at Newegg refur.
The only advantage right now is BE6-II can take higher cpu's than BE6. May be Abit will have an update bios later.

DON'T try it....I tried it once about a year ago....fried the bios....had to have it replaced.....but learned alot from it....the price of learning and experimenting...

If it works, I see one big advantage, and that is being able to turn off that blasted piece of crap Highpoint controller. The BE6 in it's current state can't do that because the techs at Abit are too lazy. Apparently the BE6-II can, but the BE6 can't.

i can see it not working but why would the chip fried??? Voltage problem???
