Bean Heads, what's your top coffee?

One of my coworkers brought in a good sized french press for the team to use, so I'm starting a new tradition at work by bringing in a bag of beans every Monday to make a pot for our team meeting; then use the rest of the bag over the week. With that, I'm looking for some good/fun beans to grind up for the team.

So, what's your favorite brew?

Dry processed Ethiopian. It's a much lighter colored bean,, almost orange'y in color. Just go to a local bean roaster and see if they have it.


And I'm also a sucker for Starbucks whole bean Blonde Roast if it's fresh ground and done in a french press. Soooooo smooth.

Kenya AA has always been my favorite. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe is another one I like a lot. They're both very different in taste.

Same here. I like Jamaican Blue Mountain too, but not enough to justify the price.

Open for anything, but nothing so exotic that only one or two people will like it. The team has about 13 people, so there will always be someone that may not like the flavor of the week.

Eight O'Clock Dark Italian Roast. Yeah it's something you can buy at walmart, but it's good, available and doesn't cost $20/lb. Tastes great out of my french press.

The various Whole Foods blends are also pretty good in my experience.

Dazbog Russian Roulette. Dazbog is a Denver company that sells their coffee in some of the local super markets (King Soopers, a local Kroger-owned chain) and also has a number of coffee shops around Denver and northern Colorado. I'm not sure if it's available from grocers outside of Colorado.

This. I actually did something similar for my dad's Christmas present once, just a sampler of about 12 different countries and flavors, just a couple of full scoops each from whole foods. He loved it!

I usually just drink the normal yellow bag Gevalia these days.

I buy coffee in bulk...when it's on sale. I think I have 15 of these on the shelves:

it's not picked out of the poop of civet cats then harvested and processed by 12 year old virgin girls...but it's coffee...and good enough to provide me with my morning jolt of caffeine.

Best coffee is the one I process and brew myself.

First I start off with deer poop. I eat it and crap it out. Once I dig thru my sheeet and pick it out, I roast it in my home made $25k roaster. Once it's done I put it in my $40k espresso machine.

Once done, I roast the coffee again to give it that magical double roast flavor.

Then I laugh at all of you chumps for drinking water and thinking it's coffee.

My wife and I had our honeymoon in Jamaica and picked up a bag of Blue Mountain coffee on our way home. That stuff is out of this world. Way too expensive in the States, but worth trying once. Pairs great with rum cream.

I buy 33oz bags of ground 8 O'clock Columbian from Amazon. They're like $12.75 a bag on subscribe and save....locally, an 11 oz bag of that stuff goes for $7.99. (used to be $5.99)

8 O'Clock coffees are only $4.98 for an 11 oz bag at the local Walmart. I'm drinking a cup of the Colombian right now.

Folgers is fine, I'll readily drink it at the local Jiffy Lube or if offered at someone's house. If all you want is an efficient source of caffeine, grab some pills or caffeinated mints. The latter will make your breath smell better than coffee for sure. The rest of us want a little more out of the experience, and the cheapest bean coffee out of a french press with properly heated water will blow that bulk folgers of yours away.
