Defense and food...Not for "sport".

I just say DOW cause they are the constant study of wildlife and hunting. They are the ones that work hand in hand with park rangers and Game Wardens.

Okay people, please try and be rational about this... first of all, MOST (not all) hunters kill for the meat. My dad hunts deer, and he could care less about the hide, the meat alone can save you a bundle if you can package it yoursel.f Now, for people that say that humans are in the wrong for killing to eat, I bet a wolf has eaten another animal before... lets kill all of them!

Now, I'm sure somebody is going to say "Well, the wolf killed with what it was given, humans have to use guns, which aren't natural". Actually, this is incorrect. A human's mind is his greatest asset, as alone he is one of the least resilient creatures. So, using the inginuity that most animals lack on this scale, he developed a skill to attack from a distance. Many animals us their skills to kill more efficently. Look at the wolf again. They often times hunt in packs to gain a strategic advantage, and the howling can be used both to communicate and to scare the prey into making a careless mistake.

I do, however, agree that killing for sport is sorta demented, BUT if it wasn;t for these hunters animals would be starving to death instead, up here we have hundreds-thousands of deer die anually because there just isn;t room up here.

Humans evolved with a superior brain, and the ability to fashion weapons and outsmart other animals. Bears did not.

Bears and other animals have no sense of morality. At least, not the kind you're trying to apply to them here. Every cat I've owned will kill mice and birds, even when not hungry, and leave them whole and uneaten on my doormat. Every dog I've seen will hunt squirrels and gophers, and not eat them.

Bears, faced with an over abundance of food will kill prey, play with it, and eat little to none of it, just like every other carnivorous animal.

Yes, carnivorous animals will kill other animals when not threatened, and not hungry. Is it sport? Or instinct? Who knows? I do know my cats looked like they were having a lot of fun killing those poor defenseless mice and birds though.

PS. Those that bad mouthed me, my hunting partner and really all hunters in general have much to learn. Do not criticize something you have neglected to educate yourself on. Though I know of some hunters who take a liking to the term "Redneck", I assume the individual who posted the remark meant it as a derogatory comment. We are not all what you consider white-trash bubba's. Those of you who made similar remarks about us hunters take a moment to breath in what I said.
