Nice and small, but I just couldn't live with only one PCI slot. I have seen some very small micro-ATX cases and many of these boards will have three PCI slots plus an AGP. This is the route I would go. And like someone just above me was saying, you could build a sweet system for much cheaper than the Shuttle box. The whole mini-pc barebone systems are incredibly overpriced, considering you usually just get the box and the mainboard.Originally posted by: hallf
If you're looking for a SFF machine, just get a Shuttle SB61G2 and be done with it...they are a sweet little machine.

I don't know anything about the MSI 6231, but a legitimate MicroATX case will use standard size PCI and AGP cards. The cases are smaller, so oversize cards might not fit, but even these will usually work. If the MSI 6231 has a riser card, it is probably an LPX or some other kind of board, not MATX. LPX usually come in ready made computers. If you were going to put together your own small computer, MATX if the form factor most people on a budget would choose. The problem is they have all those PCI slots, but it's incredibly hard to find low profile PCI bracket cards...believe me, I know...I built and am now using an MSI 6231.

Also from what i can see, it takes a regular size atx board, which in the long run is cheaper.
imo its not bad. just wish I could tell if it takes regular size pci and agp cards

If it takes full size ATX or MATX boards, it will take normal size PCI and AGP cards. Very few mainboards require non-standard PCI card sizes. These are usually Flex, LPX or some other odd configuration. If you are building your own computer, chances are you won't be using one of these wierd configurations.

I've used a bunch of these in black and beige. Nice cases, nice power supplies, well built, and pretty darn good looking when compared to their competition. They've been able to fit every mATX board I've thrown at them.

LEt me clear this up. My co worker got this case yesterday. It is a low prfile case that only accepts half height cards. It is quite small.

I don't care how small the case, the fact that it only accepts half height cards is a total deal breaker.
Newegg MATX mini tower
Here are a couple of InWin microATX cases that look OK and should take normal cards. They are fairly small, smaller than a normal audio receiver, so if you lay on it's side, it would probably fit just fine in your AV cabinet. The blue one is $44 with shipping.
just ignore the numbnuts...most of these BOOKPC cases are not particularly pleasing to
look at but they do well in small spaces.
