Whats there to do in Bedford, MA in the spring?

Moving to a new position in the same company and will probably be up there for training soon.

Bedford is not far from Boston - 15-20 minute drive with no traffic.

Lots of nice shops, parks, etc. there too.

Nothing specific in Bedford, but as the post above says... you'll be close enough to the city or head to Burlington which has a huge mall/shopping area

First things first:

What months will you be here? Because Spring starts late in New England. It's the thing that surprised me the most about New England weather.

I don't know just yet. I start this position in the beginning of March so I assume the training will be soon after.

What do you like to do? How long will you be around?

The hiring manager mentioned 2 weeks but I don't know for sure or if it will be all at once.

Most of the things I like to do don't involve going places usually. I don't go out much.

Bedford is a pretty nice town, but kind of pricey - my friends parents live there and my wife would like to move there into a house (no chance unless I hit the lotto).

There isn't much to-do, but you can drive down RT2 and go to Cambridge/Somerville (Davis, Porter, Harvard Sq) and there is TONS to do there.

You can get into Boston by parking at Alewife Station and taking the Red Line where you need to go.

Boston museum of science is nice. And it has a killer IMAX theater.

Go on a date or with your other half to Improv Asylum. It's a super fun time. I mentioned this to my wife's cousin who lives in Boston and he was shocked that I knew about and he's been there. He agrees that it is a good place.

I'd suggest Burlington Vermont for a weekend but not on your own.

well, if you're gonna take a long trip, might as well hit up Mt. Washington too.

Bedford is kind of boring, but is nice enough. Burlington has a big mall if you are into that type of thing- about 10 minutes from the Burlington/Bedford line. If it wasn't so cold I would tell you to go to Kimball Farm in Carlisle for some of the best ice cream. There is Walden pond nearby as well as some other nature sanctuaries. Actually, in Carlisle and into Chelmsford there is a state park:

This is about 5 to 10 minutes from the Bedford/Carlisle border. Hopefully it isn't too cold and you can do some hiking if you are into that type of thing.
Concord also has some interesting shops and good used book stores and consignment shops etc.

Ha you'll be near my hood
This sounds tacky but its tons of fun, do a (Boston) North End tour.
Newbury Street is a great place to take a Woman shops, coffee shops and a real cute bakery.
Museum of Science is real nice
Even if you are not a Red Soxs fan the Fenway tour is pretty fun
Walking around Fanuel Hall is pretty fun
All sorts of nerd activities in MIT

I hate Bedford, MA. Traffic sucks. The area is BORING. There is absolutely nothing to do. It is your run of the mill suburb. Why it even exists, I have no idea.

is there anything worthwhile in the burlington mall? i don't have much money to spend and I looked at the site to see what stores are there. nothing jumped out at me.

Ate at 2 good restaurants for dinner so far - The Emerald Rose and The 99.
Had bangers and mash at the Emerald Rose. Was very good.

Sunday night here I was pretty tired after driving about 8 hours. Kinda tired after class today.

is there any place that sells some kind of MA specific souvenirs, particularly anything for kids like 6-8 years old? I told my niece and nephew I would get them something but I haven't seen anything like that around. I even went to the Burlington Mall tonight and walked around, saw nothing I couldn't get at home.

I would drive to the Alewife T Station on Route 2 and take the subway into Harvard Sq and check out the Harvard Bookstore. And/or continue to the next stop, Central Sq, and check out the MIT Museum store.
