So its time for a new bed. The twin bed no longer cuts it. Im looking for a double/full or queen, and from what i see online at Ikea and Original Mattress Factory, its going to run be $500 at least. Thats a cheep frame and cheep matress. Thats just nuts to me, but maybe thats what beds go for?

Do I really need a box spring?

anyone with bedding advice to help this guy get a good nights sleep?

Queen sized bed in costco is $500 to $550 and it comes with the bedframe. Decent quality and if you take a dump on it 12 years down the road, you could always return it and get another one

Don't go with air mattress. Its bad for your back. I had a couple guests at my place and had to sleep on air mattress. Man were those the worst nights I ever had.

$1000 is what I paid. Lots of furniture stores offer same-as-cash, so you might do ok there...

CostCo typically runs a good deal on a mattress once or twice a year.

Also check 1.800.Mattress as they often offer discount mattress/boxspring sets under $500 (I just checked, and found a full sized mattress and boxspring for $299).

Just don't go to sears! I paid $2,400 for a matress and boxspring at Sears (wife wanted it), not including the pillow-top cover thing and head/foot board. Nice bed, but the last Sears purchase I will ever make.

Certainly possible. The city is like that in a number of respects.

Did you check the Clearance section as well?

That helps. mattress at $244, with box spring, $348. If I could get a cheep or free frame it wouldnt be that bad.

Don't go too cheap, odds are the thing you spend the most time in during a day is your bed, if it's uncomfortable it's going to make your miserable.

That price typically included delivery, and a frame (if you call). If you ask, they'll throw in some pillows as well.

On the phone or in one of the showrooms, they'll typically negotiate.

I got a full size mattress <Serta brand>, boxspring, and frame for about $400 at Sams Club two months ago. So far so good. If it lasts for about 10 years then I will have to say money well spent.

Not a bad deal. I cant find the Hogbo on the website. Are you in the US?

I've heard mixed things about ikea, never bought from them myself. One thing I have reservations about is the idea that their goods are low in quality and tend to fall apart easier than other furniture. But I guess since its cheaper you have to expect that.

I only use mine about 7 hours a night. I'd be willing to rent it out to you the other hours.
