people actually keep track? Wow, most the time I can't remember how many beers I drank by the end of the night. At this rate, I have a lower chance of heart disease and cancer. Thats good I guess, I'll just need a new liver.

BERLIN, May 13 ? Drinking beer could reduce the risk of cancer, strokes and heart disease, Germany?s brewers? federation said Monday, hoping to inspire the country?s youth to head for the beer garden rather than the gym.
Silly approach if you ask me...no one's drinking beer cuz it's good for them.

I like beer as much as the next guy but I think their ad campaigns should have a theme along the lines of "Yes it's bad for you in big quantities but it makes you feel real good."

Haha, I love how everything we thought was good for us turns out to give us cancer, and all the things that are supposed to be bad for you help save your life.

Murphy was an optimist.

The worst thing about beer is that it makes one's belly grow (not sure about it, though). I'm of legal age, but I don't drink beer b/c of this. I'm kinda afraid to lose my shape, if you ask me :Q.

duh

So beer is good for you, wine is good for you....I'm just waiting for the study that proves that scotch and tequila are good for you and I'll be all set.

Ounce for ounce, most light beers, and Guinness in particular have fewer calories than non-diet soft drinks and most fruit juices.

Cyanide is good for you! It actually reduces your chances of getting cancer when taken in large quantities! Same thing, only different.

Well, in that case, I had better stop at the store on the way home and pick up some health food...

Alcohol in moderation(1-2 drinks, three to four days a week), is perfectly fine. In some cases benificial, hey if you liberials say pot helps, alcohol can too... If you drink in moderation, nothings going to happen to your liver/other parts of the body.

...and, ounce for ounce, beer (light or not) adds more ounces to your waistline than non-diet soft drinks or fruit juices

False, you say? Not hardly. Alcohol is a poison. The body recognizes it immediately and begins processing alcohol, trying to expel it from your system. The calories you are consuming (which, BTW, are empty and of zero nutritive value) will be fully utilized before any other calories you've taken in. That's why the jock drinking 4 or 5 pitchers every night with his buddies while sucking down baby carrots and celery sticks is still gaining weight.

*News Flash*

Your body starts breaking down fruit juice the second it hits your mouth. An 8 ounce glass of fruit juice has on average 150 calories. A 12 ounce glass of light beer only has 100. That's 50 less calories in 50% more fluid.

Unless you have some sort of dinosauric metabolism, I fail to see how you can gain more weight drinking equivalent amounts of beer than fruit juice.

Oh, and spare me the poison rhetoric. In moderation it's harmful properties are negligible, and in fact, may actually be beneficial.
