I used to get about 3 drinks down during lunch, then come back and inevitably leave b/c I just wanted to keep drinking.

I'm one lucky SOB. My company works with a bunch of brewing scientists so not only can I have a beer at work if I want, but they frequently serve us beer at planned events and allow the employees to take home the leftovers (if there are any).

We have beer at work all the time, notably at group meetings every week. Have it with lunch or dinner occasionally.

I haven't done it, not because there's consequences, just because I don't feel like doing it. Have been with my boss a couple times when he's done it. He went out to lunch and did it on a Monday with us quite recently.
