So all of the micros I buy are from a shelf at Binny's. If I refridgerate them and then pull them out at a later time to store, does this fuck up anything in the bottle?

Going to a fancy steakhouse tonight, so whatever they have on tap. I still have a B.O.R.I.S. that I might hit up at some point as well.

Remember, no bashing beer choices, because even the cheapest beer is still beer!

They will be fine. Don't over-chill though. Some micros have a label/tag "Best served at xx"

I'll be drinking either James Boag Premium Lager or Cooper's Premium Lager

it will be fine - light exposure is much worse. keep in mind that most micros will have a shelf life of ~3 months

edit: and drinking some home brew pale ale this weekend

I have a few Killian's Irish Red but that's about it. Not sure if I'll go shopping for more beer.

Most micros...I've got a few that are literally years old. But those ones get better with age

Bell's Expedition Stout...I cracked one open for New Years that had been cellaring for about 2 years...damn was it good.

Yeah, sometimes I just get out of control when I go to Binny's and come home with $100 in beer and only have so much fridge to work with.

So is it just stouts in general that you can do this with? Because that's what I typically buy bombers of. Wouldn't mind storing a few away for a while.

I know with that specific brand that it even says on the label it's good for cellaring. It's such a dark heavy brew and such a high ABV (10.5%)

Plain stouts I'm not so sure of.

But I know drinking that one on new years was like drinking a chocolatey beer flavored dessert.

typically higher alcohol beers that are complex are the ones that age well. big stouts can fit this. some barley wines taste better after a year or more of cellaring

Lol, noobs thinking Stella is classy. It's nothing but the budweiser-pilsner of Belgium. They market it like it's fine stuff but it's the cheap of the cheap over there. Hoegaarden is much better if you want a Belgian beer.

A few quick rules of thumb regarding aging:

1. The higher the alcohol content, the better they age
2. Unfilitered beers with *live* yeast age much better than filtered or pasteurized beer

There's really not much benefit to aging beers without live yeast, since it's the largely live yeast that alters the flavor during aging. There are some other factors, but these are the two biggest factors that will affect your beer during aging.

at home.. The Abyss. I bought a bar out of the bombers a few nights ago. They had 6 total. I had 2 in the bar, friend had 1. Then I bought the last 3 to go. didn't think you could buy beer to go, but I guess you can in AZ.

Going out to a nice outdoor dinner place tonight. I think I'll be doing Chimay (blue) with my local pork chops.

Hoppin' Frog's BORIS? If so, I think that's a pretty good oatmeal stout at a pretty good price! Sadly, I'm working this weekend so probably no drinking for me. Perhaps I'll have a Corsendonk Pale or some random gueze when I get home.

I've found that Mad Elf can really vary by the brewing year. I've had years where I really enjoyed it, and others where I didn't care much for it at all. Overall, though, pretty good choice. Especially if you're looking to get crunked
