Well since someone else already late bumped...
Second the Unibroue recommendation, especially the Maudite. Aventinus Doppelbock is also excellent, though I wish we could get Kloster Andechs here in the States. I'm a fan of Celebrator Doppelbock as well.
Anything Sam Adams (other than the Boston Lager, not my cuppa), local brewery here in that's got some excellent stuff is Bristol Brewing...their Winter Warlock is a damn fine Outmeal Stout and the Laughing Lab Scottish is nom.
Belgians make some good beer. Chimay is good, but IMO Westmalle is better and (somewhat) less expensive.
