I live in Holyoke, MA. Home to Paper City Brewery. Once or twice a week they ask for volunteers to come help them bottle and box a new brew. For our time, we get FREE BEER. Luscious, delicious, freshly brewed beer straight from the giant, stainless-steel maw that created it. Plus we get to take a case home.

That doesnt sound like a bad deal at all! Now I must find one here, why are can't I find any local breweries here in GA?

OP, when you start trying new beers I suggest that you keep track of them somehow. I personally have an Excel document with the name of beer, brewer, type of beer, and rating (out of 10). This makes things easier in the long run because I can track what kind of beers I seem to like best.

I should have made an Excel sheet when I started buying stuff. I just started making one now, but I only was able to put a few in (basically, whatever was in my fridge), because I couldn't remember the name of most of them.

My list is still pretty small at the moment, but by the time you're done assembling yours I might be ready to trade.

Bacon is not healthy. The Marine Corps don't like fat asses

i don't know about you jugheads, but the smell of every chow hall on an army base frying bacon in the early morning is one of the most beautiful smells in existence. and they make bacon every morning.

lol marines lol. ;P

I'd recommend a bunch of great beers, but probably none of them available to you down in Georgia.

Do you have Labatt 50 there? only mainstream beer that I can think of that I really like.

Every time I'm looking for beer I always try to find something different that I haven't had before. Because usually after I drink it I can give it a rating, and a review if I feel inclined to do so. Although when on a hunt to try a new beer I tend to peruse the aisles for about a half hour before I'm happy with my selection. lol!
The higher the abv %, more exotic, or flavorful the better. You can still find good low priced beers, just have to keep an eye out for them. The lowest price with the biggest bang for the buck I have came across has been Mendocino brewing co. I've been able to leave the store having spent only $7 on a 6pack that is 8 or 9 abv. Awesome! Not the best beers around, but they aren't bad either.

Also... Dogfish Head.. mmmmmm

Try something dark as well, maybe a brown or a stout. That'll tell you if you can venture into the 'real' side of beers. Fat Tire, Red Stripe and Stella are way on the light side. If you like regular Sam Adams, I think you can safely try something darker. Make sure it's as fresh as possible, tho. Do you have any BevMo's nearby?
