They are warmer than nomal but ive told you that already. You might want to give some more info such a HSF type, overclock ect.

No those temps are fine, my cpu only loads up to slightly less than urs 48C, my mainboard chipset hovers at 46C, and voltage regulators on the mb are like at 60C at full load. U dont need to waste money on water cooling those temps are fine.

The stock heatsink with ur opty should be heatpipe one, from what i head and i dont kow if i'm correct there are 2 versions, one with 2 heatpipes and one with 4.
If u have the latter it should perform comparable to the aftermarket coolers.
Firstly since u said stock i assume ur using the stuff which came with the stock heatsink, change the paste to arctic silver 5 and see if that drops the temps. Otherwise u can buy an aftermarket cooler, big typhoon, xp90, xp120 are a few good ones.

I dont think getting water cooling is worth for opterons even if overclocked they dont nearly produce enough heat to worry about. If u were sitting at something like 62C, then there would be something to worry about (in fact that was my temp with the stock aluminium cooler) So as long as ur bellow 55C its fine.

edub,
Before going to water try to improve the air flow in your case! Those MB temps seem too much.

how can i improve airflow? i have a thermaltake tsunami case it has a 120m fan on the back for exhaust and one 120m fan in the front for intake ..also it has a 80mm fan on the side that directly blows on the cpu

it depends what mobo he uses, if its nforce 4 i would not be supprised to see high temps on the chipset.

Make sure ur wiring is tidy and not in the way of airflow.

have you removed and replaced the HSF? Is yours the 4 heatpipe version? What speed is your fan spinning at?

make sure you are getting the right cpu temperature reading. Those numbers just dont look right.

Temp readings are not accurate or comparable. If the system is stable then the temps are fine.

Those temps are fine don't worry about it. The only thing that is a little high is your MB temp.

First, I think your temps are fine. In the real world, how many hours out of the week is your computer running flat out 100% load? Unless you're doing distributed computing or DVD encoding every waking moment then you are OK right where you are. If you still want to look at upgrading, here is a pretty good overview of some of the best coolers around. I would also say the xp120 should be on your short list too.

I never said his temps are that high. There is just a big variation between load and idle. More so than usual. I would just like to see him get them below 50.
