Beginner Bike - Honda CMX250

Found one with a dent in the gas tank (dropped by the previous guy who was also a newbie)
They are asking 2k, its an 09 Model, low mileage.
Seems like most places online have it for about 3k

Good price? I just want a cheap starter bike, i'm going to ride it for a month, store it, ride it for a month again next spring, then go out and get something bigger once i feel comfortable.

The absolute BEST 250cc starter bike is the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. All of the other 250s (cruiser/standard styling) pale in comparison performance wise and resale.

The Ninja 250R makes the most usable power of any 250 (4-stroke) street bike sold in the last 20+ years. It is also the most fun to ride, because you can wring its neck and still keep within sane limits on the street.

Kawasaki sold a boat load of them since @1986, so prime used examples and parts are plentiful. Used Ninja 250s go for $1500-3000 depending on year and condition. The average price after 2-5 years is @$2200-2500. Shop around and you can break even and/or pocket a couple hundred reselling when you are ready to move up to a bigger bike.

In addition.....If you get bit by the track bug, you can keep the Ninja 250R and turn it into a weekend track toy with very little invested.

Miata makes good points, but if sportbikes aren't your style the rebel is a good starter bike too. Wife had one and I belive we sold it for what we paid. I rode it a few times and while it is a little anemic for fun on the highway it still got be me up over the speed limit and is lighweight and fun around town.

Get some gear to go with it and you'll be set.
