I you connect a switch or HUB to one of the ports, more than four people can connect to the Internet through this device. Not sure how many, but possibly in the hundreds. I purposely connect my home network to a switch and connect this to one port on the router. I had an extra switch and I feel better about not using the switch built into the router.

Hmmm, I think Staples is confused here. Theie $40 rebate is for a product with an invalid SKU (it's nowhere on their site).

The model number referenced in the rebate is for this router, which is four ports, and also looks nothing like the router in the weekly ad. Also, the model that the rebate is for (F5D5231-4) is not listed on their website.

The SKU# on the rebate (SKU 482087) is the same as SKU# of the Belkin 4-port cable/DSL gateway router on the web site. The rebate company goes by the SKU# and the UPC codes, as long as they're the same there shouldn't be a be problem. Maybe the 4-port is a newer version.

Any one pick one up one of these at the store?

I picked this up in my local staples. SKU on the rebate form that printed out is 482087. There is no SKU printed on the receipt. UPC Code 722868442944 is on the box and on the receipt. Belkin Model number is F5D5231-4 and it does not look like the one shown on the web site. I think this is a newer version.

Good feature about this router is it supports UPNP protocol. I also have the older belkin model that does not support UPNP.

this looks like the one i got at comp usa thanksgiving sale maybe? it was real cheap then but not free, i like mine only thing is i have to reset it sometimes seems to slow down sometimes, but dont take but a sec to reset, good to go then, i have had no problems out of mine, great deal for free

Yes, you should be able to disable the routing functions and then it will perform better than a hub.
