My first deal posting, so don't jump on me too badly if I mess something up.

Best Buy has Belkin 500VA UPS' on sale for $60 -- $35MIR == $25AR.

It seems to be a fairly decent unit, with both serial and USB connections, and you can't beat it for the money. Enjoy.

Just ordered it. Is the rebate still valid even though it won't arrive before the rebate offer expires? Thanks.

This really sucks! I was trying to save my money for BF but all these deals keep popping up on items that I need. Nice post OP looks like I'm getting a new UPS later today.

These have both serial and usb ports.
Does anyone know if they can control (shutdown) 2 seperate PC's at the same time? 1 usb and 1 serial.

Question, if the 800va is 109, then can i buy 2 500va and that cost 50 bucks, and connect them in a serial fashion? Will that still work?

why not plug half of your appliances to one and the other half to the other?

I don't know if the same is true for these "cheap" consumer based UPS's.... but this is very bad idea on "real" big-business ones. The big ones do line conditioning and running them in series creates some sort of square-wave/sine-wave problem. I don't know all the details, but a very smart electrician convinced me not to do it.

I think two in parallel w/ half your stuff on one and half on the other would be much preferred.

(but I still only want 1, the 800VA, to control two PC's... from my ? a few posts back)

Thanks for the reply...i was just wondering if it would make a difference. So i guess the answer is not to do it. Thanks.

Me and two friends just picked up 2 800VA's and 1 500VA at the Macon, GA BB.
They still have a few left.

I have 3 of the 1200 models... For people asking about the shutdown software.. Yes, it will do all of the computers on your network.. It can page you, call you and all sorts of stuff.. You can select different times for each box to shut down and all of that good stuff.. Great product.. Never had a problem with them....

As for wiring them in parallel... You would wire parallel, not serial for a longer lasting system.. But no, you cannot combine these.. You have to have the freq. sync'd up 100% to be able to do that.. And you won't be able to do that.. Just split the load across the two of them.... You can combine the batteries in parallel.. But that's just a waste.. AC no parallel, DC fine..
Hope that helps!

Belkin's site says the F6C500-UNV has Automatic Voltage Regulation, but it is not stated on BB's site. Anyone have one that can verify that the 500VA on sale does in fact have Automatic Voltage Regulation?

Thanks,

Thanks Slack3r78. I jumped on the Enegiser 400VA a couple weeks back. The unit I got was defective and had to return it. No replacements and no other good deals at CC. So I was looking for another good deal.

Back when the 800VA was on sale I jumped on that. However it will not hold my home network and two computers so I'll use the 500VA for my home server.

So far I'm so pleased with my 800VA. Software, Size of unit, Price, etc. Go Belkin!

Ideal would be to purchase both or get over $100 and apply the latest coupon to get more off.

Good Luck all,
-JC

I just bought one of each 500 & 800. The address, P.O. box & Promo # is the same for both. Does that exclude me for the "one per household". Or will I qualify as they are two different models? anyone Know? I'm about to call their 800 rebate question #. I mentioned it @ time of purchase.... But I'm not sure they (CSR's) really know?

I ordered 800VA online for pick up so that I could use 10$ off from 100$ ($99+tax-$60). I think this is one of the best looking UPSs, even though it doesn't really matter. Their monitoring software has a lot of functions which is very nice, too.
Thanks Slack3r78 and thedarkwolf.
