Actually I was goofing around the whole time, I ordered 5(and the 5 arent even all for me) I also agree that it isnt very nice of people to order 20 of these things, when they know people need them. However, what does sicken me the most is how easily some people will let some like a network card upset them enough to insult and berate another person. Even if I had ordered 300, there are better ways to express your opinion than the insults you have left. I do however understand the disgust... I am just as disgusted, especially with people who plan on reselling them, on ebay etc. It is easy to say that 'that is just capitalism, so deal with it or go live somewhere else" at least that is the normal angry response one gets to anti-capitalism somments, however, I dont care if it is legal, or if it is 'the system'... the Nazi's had a 'system' to, and while I am definatley not making a qualitative comparison between the two, it does serve well to demonstrate that an argument like 'its legel' or 'thats the system' are not logically sound arguments for a moral question, unless of course you are a normative ethical relativist..... So wether it is legal or not, I think grabbing these and marking them up 50% or more is simply wrong. You can tell me about how the big companies do it all the time, but what kind of an issue is that? is it ok to kill someone because a big company does it? The fact that most business's make a profit not through quality product or workmanship, but through outrageous mark ups is a terrible thing, and most of us have no choice but to pay. So, for those of you that ordered 10 for no reason, or 15 or 20 so you could e*bay a few, I feel it is sad and unfortunate that you would not only take away this deal from your fellow forum members, but more importantly that you will take advantage of people in such a way on the auctions....

heh... i ordered only 2 and prolly won't receive anytime soon :frown: .... seems DELL would be smart to fullfill the huge orders first. Less work and it saves them on shipping all the small 1,5 and 10 unit orders (which they were paying free ship on too)

Who knows how many of these "widgets" Dell had? 100 or 1000 or 10,000.

BTW, There are plenty of FREE NIC cards available right now in retail stores.

Best Buy had D-Link 10/100 for $15 with $15 MIR = $0 (had plenty on the shelf yesterday)
Frys has D-Link 10/100 for $9.99 - $10 MIR = $0

I installed this stuff in my dad's office bout 4 years ago on 3 computers. This stuff was terrible unreliable. I was coming in the office every couple of weeks to fix it. The cables would always somehow die on me. When that happens, all of the terminators (things that go on the end of the "last" computer's cable) would also die. These things were like $3 at Best Buy. It would also give you a shock while working with it. About 2 1/2 years ago we switched over to 100mbs CAT 5. Life has been better ever since. Except for the fact that these cheap a$$ D-link NICs keep dying.

Blahh I guess you get what you pay for from those cheap D-links. >>

I just called on a separate order, but asked about the delayed items.....rep told me they are so overwhelmed with Christmas orders and such that they have gotten behind....the delayed item status does not mean they are out and waiting for shipment....she stated that her system showed stock level for the NICS at 9999, as high as her system would show.....they are delayed because of the Christmas rush......she said that if your order shows delayed, but a ship date is given, that is an estimate within 24 hours of shipment....excluding weekends of course. So, if you show a ship date of 12/14 like me....they will ship then or on Monday at the latest. They are also behind at sending order confimations....the one with an order number...normal time is 24 hours after placing orders....now at 36 hours.
BTW....my first shipment was sent from Addison, IL. I live in Texas and figured they would ship from the huge facilty they have in Roundrock....I guessed wrong.

Re 10-Base-2 vs 10-Base-T...

I had a client whose office used the crappy 10-Base-2 stuff. It was like a "full employment" contract. Seldom did a week go by that I didn't have to go out there and wiggle connectors. The hell of it was that you could never find WHERE the problem is!

I finally told them that they could cut their costs in half by upgrading to 10-Base-T. I worked... but the result was that I screwed myself out of $$$.

There are always people who will try to make a profit with hot deals like this. I was one of the firsts to get to this deal but I decided not to deal with the hassel of selling them so I only bought what I needed. It is hard to say who is right and who is wrong because someone bought all the stuff. It is like going to bestbuys on thanksgiving and a guy bought all the goodies because he was there earlier than other people. The morale of the story is to just beat the traffic and get to the goodies before they are gone. Its like that when people sign up for free gift certificates online. Its always first come and first serve.
