Belkin F5D7230-4 3000 No/slug speed internet

I just bought the Belkin F5D7230-4 3000 wireless router and I am having trouble getting an internet connection with wifi/ethernet.

Router: Belkin F5D7230-4 3000
Laptop: HP ze2308wm
ISP: Earthlink.net 5.0 Mbps

I have plugged the laptop into the ethernet port and connected to wifi and the modem is connected, however there is no internet, or it works for a second and the stops midway. It has to be the router becuase I have tried the connecting the ethernet directly to the modem and it works, i have tried connecting it to the previous router i had and it works, i have also tried another wireless network that was unsecured and it works so there is nothing wrong in terms of the laptop. I have also followed the instructions on the belkin website to clone the MAC address -- no luck. There are no firmware updates either.

If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

Have U already configured the router?

I mean the router specifies not to connect it until the wizard check your internet configuration.

Try unpluging the router from all connections and insert first the CD that cames with it, and do all the steps that the wizard asks..!!

I followed the exact instructions, the problem was that it worked fine as a wireless access point, but not when it was set for routing and nat.... I fixed it by returning it for a netgear router, it worked first time no problems.
