Hi all, I have recenty bought a new Laptop (Acer 4011WLCi) and it cames with the Intel 2200BG wireless adapter, and I bought also a Belkin F5D7230-4 54g wireless router to share my internet connection and files between my destop PC and my new Laptop.

Everything was configured OK no effort at all, and the internet connection works Great!! (DSL 1Mb) but the problem is with file Tranfers!! I mean a 300 MB file takes 17 mins aprox. to be tranfered from desktop to laptop, according my own calculations this give me 2.3 Mbps, so obviously mi internet connection isn't affected because of the little bandwith (1Mbps) but I want to know the possible cuases of this slow connection between PC and Laptop.

This is what I have done so far:

Download the lastest Intel 2200 BG drivers (ver. 9.0.3.0) and configure the adapter settings to Highest in power managment and enabled Intel Troughput Enhancement.

I already try to upgrade the router firmware, but the current version on it is Newest that the updated version from Belkin (6.00.10 vs 6.00.03)

The reception meter is always in "Excelent" 54.0 Mbps

And I dont have any other wireless net around my house to be in conflict with!!

Any Ideas about this guys?, they will be a lot appreciate it.

It could only be the network card or drivers in one of the machines. Assuming that machine is not the new router or laptop, you probably have a crappy or misconfigured ethernet card in your PC. Try installing drivers or just get a new one, even those cheap realtek chips an pull better than 3.2.

Thanks For U Answer Atheus, but the only PC that's connected to the router have 2 NICs the onboard 1Gb and another realtek 10/100 (cames with the DSL modem), and in both of them the connetcion speed is only 10Mb even if the router is 100Mb capable, any other guesses?

Regards!!

The only other thing to do is get another laptop (known working) and replace each machine with that to find the problem machine.

You might want to try pinging each computer to the other, and to the router also. Incase you don't know how, go to start, run, cmd, ping [ip address]. You should have results that are about 1 - 2ms. You can find the IP address of each computer by typing ipconfig in cmd. If you get pings above 2ms then something is wrong.

Another test to run is in cmd typing netstat /s /p tcp. If the number of segments retransmitted is more than about 2% of segments sent, then there is some kind of inteference in your network.

Let me know if I was unclear on anything.

I think I find the problem after all but I don't know how to fix it; the problem is that the desktop PC only connects to the router (wired connection) at 10Mbps and the router is suppose capable of handling 10baseT and 100baseT so it's no connecting to 100Mbps and the NIC in the Desktop PC is configured to Autolink, but if I force it to 100Mbps mode it don't connecto to the router "network cable unplugged" message..

Anyone knows hot to enable the 100Mbps in the router? (Belkin F5D7230-4 54g )

P.S. I suppose that the easyest solution will be buy an PCI wireless card for the PC, but I don't want to expend another $40 bucks in this S***.!

Did you try using a ifferent port on the router? Maybe the physical port is not working at 100 Mbit but another would work.

Did you call Belkin? If you can demonstrate that the wired port is not working at 100 Mbit, they should replace your router.

Id just return it, you probably bought it at CC like me for $30 so just return it and get the netgear thats $30 after rebates-- it solves a lot of problems. Wireless was a breeze to setup and had no problem connecting to the internet and other computers in my net.
