Belkin Router $54.99 AR - OfficeMax 3/10 - 3/23

Aloha All!

Finally get to post some news to this great forum!

Was cruising through the OfficeMax site and came across a 4 Port Belkin Cable / DSL router for $74.99 plus a $20 mail-in rebate. Major catch however, the rebate is only valid for purchases from 3/10 - 3/16 for the Continental U.S. -or- 3/17-3/23 for those of us in Hawaii or Alaska (3/24 - 3/30 for Puerto Rico and St. Thomas).

Factor in a $$$ off coupon (whatever's available at the time) and this sounds like a hot deal!

What's the verdict on this router? Worth the purchase?

Hope to get some good reviews as I'll be needing one soon.

BTW, if it is a hot deal, how about leaving a few for those of use in the middle of the ocean. ;-)

Can I route this devise to my office next door in my neighbors basement? I have a phone line running there already! I need my DSL at that computer. Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

If your serious? You can just run an "outside"quality cat 5 line from your house to the basement. Same exact thing as when you ran the phone line actually.

For information purposes I picked up one of these from CUSA when they had a $50 rebate at Christmas. I am having to reset this thing sometimes as many as 3 - 4 times a day. I hope that it is just mine, and when I exchange it I will have no more problems. Thought I would pass this on.

I have the wireless one from a dell deal. The first one gave me some problems, and Dell replaced it, and I find I have to reboot this one occasionally(anywhere from once a day, to once every 2 weeks) when ever the internet gets sluggish. I run a traceroute, and whenever the pings get long>100ms I reboot.

anyone know if u can get this for cheaper or another cable/dsl router for cheaper? i dont actively search for routers, but it'd be nice to pick up a cheap one. Anyone know if this is a good deal for a router?, seems like a descent deal to me

I got this same Belkin router and had trouble at first. I would have to reset constantly. I got a firmware update from Belkin and this helped. I switched my NIC card from an older Linksys version 1 to a cheapo Belkin NIC with realtec chip set. This helped even more. Right now it is pretty reliable, but even so I still reset once every day or so. I also set Zonealarm relatively low in the security settings. My final cost was around $28 after rebate. I don't think I would have been too happy paying over $50.

Belkin is a piece of crap. I setup one of these becuase it was cheap and it took hours to setup and resets often. Man i have NO PROBLEM at all with Linksys routers. BTW lingyi, where do you live? I live in Waipio Gentry and go to UH now.

I live near Halawa (the area, not the prison) Finished school a long time ago, but wish the biggest worries I have now were final exams.

Thanks for the info about the router. I assume it's likely you're using for RoadRunner, so I'll stay away from this deal. *SIGH* I see some great deals this week at Frys and Best Buy...too bad we don't have either. Oh well...Lucky we live Hawaii?
