...two of his top advisers said in interviews with The New York Times that he had struggled to master the intricacies of the Middle East and national security and that intense tutoring was having little effect.
“Nobody has been able to sit down with him and have him get one iota of intelligent information about the Middle East,” Duane R. Clarridge, a top adviser to Mr. Carson on terrorism and national security, said in an interview. He also said Mr. Carson needed weekly conference calls briefing him on foreign policy so “we can make him smart.”

But you don't mind a candidate saying there are 57 states?
That is absurd since in his quote he mentions not going to Alaska and Hawaii. Your numbers don't add up. He misspoke, that's it.The comment was meaning number of primaries. 50 states plus the US territories.
Guam, Puerto Rico etc that get to vote.
I wouldn't know the number of asked, so I am not going to call him dumb.
He misspoke, that's it.
How does that even happen? For what reason would someone cut and move a section of the map? I undrestand doing that for alaska and hawaii to make them fit on a map, but this? Why?
