He is prepared but an interview that is just bringing up old tweets and dumb things he said as gotcha’s is rather shallow and I think anybody would be understandably frustrated. He’s been on plenty of debate panels where he wasn’t the one doing the interviewing and certainly wasn’t in what could be described as friendly company and has handled himself just fine.

Given that he made the following statement after the interview, I don't see how he would say that he did fine:

Ben Shapiro‏Verified account @benshapiro

Just pre-taped an interview with BBC’s @afneil. As I’m not familiar with him or his work, I misinterpreted his antagonism as political Leftism (he termed the pro-life position in America “barbaric”) – and that was apparently inaccurate. For that, I apologize.

You clearly didn't understand the line of questioning.

Ben is selling a book. In his book he's basically "both sides"(ing) the statement that today's climate is so polarized. The interviewer was pointing out bens hypocrisy on the subject and Ben was unable to defend himself because his hypocrisy was undeniable.

Moral of the story; don't be a hypocrite.

How could he possibly have been prepared when he was interviewing with one of Britain's most well-known conservatives and somehow didn't even know who he was?

I didn’t say he did fine in this interview and in fact said at least twice he did the opposite.

If he’s both sidezing I would assume that encompasses him no?

Shapiro admits he got destroyed. Huh.

Also:

"After taping the interview but before it aired, Shapiro said he had apologized to Neil. "As I'm not familiar with him or his work, I misinterpreted his antagonism as political Leftism ... that was apparently inaccurate. For that, I apologize," he said."

Doesn't make me like or agree with him really, but it's nice to see some mature behavior out of him in defeat. That speaks to integrity I'm not accustomed to seeing in the right wing echo chamber.

Edit: ugh sorry moon

It was pretty funny when he petulantly started yelling about how he was popular and no one had heard of the anchor.

It’s embarrassing for our country that anyone thought this clown was a serious thinker.

Maybe he can walk and chew gum, be an intellectual and suffer from low self esteem reflected as egotistical childishness at the same time. It's not like intelligence or rational thinking has anything to do with knowing what you feel. The two can be quite antithetical actually. I have seen quite intellectually simple people drop straight to the floor writhing around screaming to shield themselves from blows delivered 40 years previously as children whereas it took me years and years of work to even know I felt anything. In my first contact with a psychologist, in fact, he told me that I was defensive and I told him I was not. Hehehehehe I stepped right into a classic. Yes, embarrassing. God knows how many times I never saw it or still don't.

But somehow he was the victim and the suckage wasn't really completely his fault.

Not sure why you’re trying to put words in my mouth that I didn’t say. He did terrible in that interview and it was his fault. That doesn’t mean he’s not an intelligent person, go watch some of his other interviews.

Shapiro doesn’t seem to do straw men arguements, have you ever actually listened to any of his shows and debates other than what’s in the OP? I’m sure he has at some point but that’s not really his method. It seems you don’t like him because you’ve heard you’re not supposed to like him.

Looks like you don't know what a straw man is, which you punctuated un-ironically with your very own straw man.

A straw man is a form of argument and an informal fallacy based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument, while actually refuting an argument that was not presented by that opponent. One who engages in this fallacy is said to be "attacking a straw man."

I don’t know what straw man I presented? And Shapiro doesn’t seem to use thin in his arguements. So I don’t guess I’m following you..?

How many posts did you spend telling us in this thread that the interviewer wasn’t really fair and kept asking “gotcha” questions? Seriously we can read what you previously wrote.

I don't even understand UC's "gotcha questions" comment. I suppose that in UC's mind and the "minds" of many other "conservatives", asking follow up questions about comments/stances made by Shapiro (or anyone on the right for that matter) cannot be made...and if they are, they're gotcha questions.

The straw man you presented is the idea that I don't like him because I've heard I'm not supposed to like him. If that were the case, that would be a stupid thing for me to do. That is a straw man, because it is easy to argue against someone who did that stupid thing, very easy for you to knock down that straw man.
