Benches comparing very old to newer cards

I know that AnandTech Bench is kind of like this, but it doesn't go back as far as I need.

Does anyone know where I could find benchmarks comparing (relatively) new low-end cards to high-end cards from generations ago?

Specifically, I'm looking for a comparison between a Radeon 4350 and a Geforce 6800 Ultra. I'm throwing together a rig from spare parts to try and pawn off, and without benching them myself I don't know which of these cards would give it more horsepower. Obviously the 4350 wins on noise, accoustics, HTPC-capabilities, etc, but I don't know about gaming performance. Does the bottom-performance card from later 2008 beat the top performance card from almost 5 years before?

Its a hard question... I cant say if off the top of my head, so gonna google abit.

from wiki>
6800 ultra: PCI, 512mb ram, 130nm fab...~33 GB/s mem BW. Directx 9c
4350, PCI, 512mb ram, 55nm fab... ~8 GB/s mem BW. Directx 10.1

by these # alone Im fairly sure the 6800 Ultra is faster.
Memory bandwidth isnt everything but... it helps.

found another thread like this one:

Basically the 6800 Ultra is faster.

Out of boredom I fired up my media centre with 4350 and Athlon 64 @ 2.4GHz and ran Battlefield 2 with Fraps, to compare with the benchmark figures for 6800 Ultra. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2466&p=3

The numbers come out about the same for 4350 and 6800 Ultra. 1280x1024 4xAA with all settings on high yielding 50 to 70 fps. At 1920x1200, same settings, hovering around 30 fps.

I've never gamed on the 4350, I'm pleasantly shocked how well it performed. Not to mention it's a passively cooled card =O

50 - 70 ~ avg of 60 fps.
vs the 6800 in the anandtech review, doing around 75 fps.

the 6800 Ultra is faster, but not as much as you might expect for the huge differnces in memory bandwidth.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses.

I guess I'll put the 6800 Ultra in that rig. Probably for the best, too. If I sold the PC with the 4350 in it, I'd probably have a hard time finding anyone to buy the 6800 Ultra as a standalone part. The 4350 will probably be easier to sell on its own, since it makes a great HTPC card or low power card for non-gaming machines.

You can find helpful information at Tom's Hardware includiing:
1. Their hiearchial chart showing qualitative but not quantitative differences between all cards
2. Graphics performance charts covering all but the most recent cards - you might have to use intermediate cards to link between real old cards on older charts and newer ones
3. On each chart you can select and compare specific video cards

You can find more information about how best to use these charts at:

The 6800 Ultra should be faster. If I had to guess, probably somewhere between 30% and 100% faster, so up to twice as fast. But the 4350 is pretty damn slow, so it's like going from a slow card to a slightly less slower card.

But remember that when SM3.0 games arrived, the 6800 Ultra nosedived due to its terrible SM3.0 dynamic branch and HDR performance. The HD 4350 might be theorically weaker, but far more efficient due to its much more advanced architecture.

4350 is 9800pro/6600gt level. 6800 ultra is twice as fast, at x800xt level.

You can't really sell either card. The 4350 might net you $10 after shipping. Worth more as a spare.

HD 4350 is more of a cheap HTPC card than anything else and I really doubt of its performance.

They're both low level cards, but the 4350 is a perfect cheap HTPC card, low power, and good enough for 1080p.
