Is that 3.6ghz on all cores Crono? ThoseRyzen chips are hella quick for productivity tasks.

Pretty nice considering it's x265 which uses AVX2 for big boosts on Haswell/Broadwell/Skylake.

That's quite interesting, assuming a linear scaling with frequency it should take your 1700x about 106 seconds at 4.5 GHz, and my 5960x takes about 98 seconds at 4.5.

Although frequency scaling may not be linear, so when I get home I'm going to try and clock my 5960x at 3.6 and see how it compares.

quoting that one line should be sufficient for what we're doing here. there may be a couple other lines that could bear inspection, i'll read through the old thread and see in the morning.

and even if at some point in the future posting the log file is necessary, just don't delete them?

My same G4600 @ stock 3.6Ghz with HT, no AVX/AVX2, dual-channel DDR4-2400 @ 2400

encoded 1497 frames in 528.50s (2.83 fps), 4036.02 kb/s, Avg QP:26.24

I dont think this above entry has been updated in the main table for your G4600 by OP/Moderator (@ElFenix ). I have a G4560 and completed it in 544 seconds, and in the main post, it says your (@VirtualLarry ) G4600 took 580s with the G4600.... I was surprised because I was expecting mine to come in slightly lower than a G4600..... It looks like the main post is perhaps incorrect.

So G4600 --> 528 seconds
& G4560 --> 544 seconds

Makes sense! I love repeatable, logical results

Regards,
Vishnu

I think when he originally posted it I saw "my same" and figured he was posting the score again. Didn't notice it was different and one was dual channel and the other was single channel. I'll update tomorrow.

Haha OMG that is crazy. Quoting the 1045T @3.9 GHz result from my earlier post. ^^

Code:

Thank you for the clarification! Yes Single Channel vs Dual Channel....makes a big difference.

4gb RAM
win 10 64 bits

encoded 1497 frames in 1077.10s (1.39 fps), 4190.35 kb/s, Avg QP:25.27

I also have made a test of this file with my AMD RX460 2GB to encode and resize the file in A´s Video Converter using similar settings to handbrake but the GPU instead the CPU. The result is:

encoded in 35 sec. at 42 fps

That's a really cool tidbit of a data point. I'll have to go back and do similar test with my RX480. Your RX460 is encoding at > 25x the pace of the Q6600. That's beautiful.

problem with graphics card conversion is that the quality isn't consistent with using the cpu.

i still need to update the OP.

10th fastest result so far but i'm not sure it should be included in the chart due to the VM handicap

Is it because of the way program is written (software), the way graphics cards works (hardware), or something else? I have been curious about it now that GPUs can do both single/double-precisions.
