Benchmarked my GeForce3 Ti 200 and got a mere 6489 using 3DMark 2001 SE. WHY?????

I then matched my score against MadOnion.com database. I couldn't believe that users having the same or less hardware resources scored 9000 and up. One feature which seems always a part of their profile was FSB @204. Mine runs at 133.

The folllowing is my hardware profile. What should I tweak with and what numbers should i go for. The other user had the EXACT same configuration and brand name for all harware components yet he received a score of 10028. The ONLY THIG DIFF. WAS THE FSB which was set at 204MHz.

My Machine:

Operating System Microsoft Windows XP
DirectX Version 8.1
Mobo Manufacturer ABIT
Mobo Model VT8366A-8233 (KR7A)
AGP Rates
(Current/Available) 2x / 1x 2x
CPU AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1601 MHz
FSB 133 MHz
Memory 512 MB Crucia lPC 2100 DDR
Graphics Chipset NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200
Driver Name NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200
Driver Version 6.13.10.2832
Video Memory 128 MB
Program Version 3DMark2001 SE
Resolution 1024x768 32bit
Texture Format Compressed
FSAA Disabled
Z-Buffer Depth 24bit
Frame Buffer Double
Rendering Pipeline D3D Pure Hardware T& L
3DMark Score(3D marks) 6489

3DMark doesn't display any video card OC settings. I am sure everyone who has a GeForce3 Ti 200 like to OC it. Mine runs at 480/200. I was afraind to go any higher.

I see... the old Frosty huh?! Some guy in my previoius thread suggested to go straight to 207 by increasing the core voltage to 2.4v. I think I'd need one of those water cooled gizmos.

Be careful what you do cause increasing voltage for your cpu will make it burn out faster as well as make it more unstable if you go too high. Heh I would like to see any XP go to 2.4volts without dying. If you want to do some tweaks on your machine to make it go faster, read up a bit first and ask questions.

Or better yet, do you like how the machine works in your 3d games? If so, don't tweak it at all til you have a problem doing something. 3dMark is just a synthetic test and doesn't mean anything except bragging rights. If you blow your machine up cause you tried to mod it or tweak it just so that you could get a new higher 3dmark score then you will regret it.

I've checked some of those scores out and most weren't running the high resolution so of course there scores are going to be incredibly high , if you can break the 8000 mark with these cards , running 3dmark s.e. stock your doing very well ,you could easily take your core clock up to 230 without it being a problem, but only if your comfortable with that much overclocking, you'll often see people post there o/c speeds on there 3dmarkse signature ,looking at your score with a little tweaking you should be able to run quite a bit higher, but only do it if your comfortable with the process.

I took my GF 3 Ti 200 from around 7100 to 9100 by overclocking the card to 245/550 without any stability problems. This was on a P4 1.6A running @ 2.4.

These cards usually overclock pretty well.

something is not set up right on your motherboard.
I have an XP1600@1.53ghz using SDRAM and a Radeon 7500 and I pull a 5700 3dmark2k1. you should be WAAAAAAYYYY ahead of me

I kinda figured that; i wonder if anyone has the same configuration -- I'd like to know what setting he's using.

Those numbers are fine, don't worry about it. I have an XP1700, 512 MB RAM and a GF4 Ti4400. I'm always a bit below 9000 but I have most of the quality settings turned on the drivers. I too am running at stock bus speed and video card is not overclocked. 3DMark numbers don't really mean much to me.

Running 201 stable here..I can go to 209 stable but I have to lower my multiplier since my cpu can't go over 1610, so it's not really worth it to me.

UnTech, your score is better than mine although the only thing different is the CPU speed ( you have a 1800+ and I have 1900+). I really don't understand why this happens but it doesn't really matter... I'd rather have a stable, unfried system. Tweaking around mindlessly can only spoil erverything.

Thanks so much for your posts guys!

You're about right. I was around 7,000 with my Ti200, overclocked to slightly above Ti500 speeds. Now I'm just over 9,000 with my Ti4200(also overclocked)
