benchmarks on a radeon 8500

I'm wondering, what tweaks did anand or most benchmark sites do that would optimize the performance of the card they're testing...I have the exact same config as anand on hi retake of the radeon 8500 drivers(cept i have a amd761 based mobo and running win2k instead of winxp) and yet his benchmarks maxpayne are 20 fps more and wolf are 50 fps more! Are they're any tweaks that would increase fps? thanks

Just some things out of the way..

AMD 1800XP on Win2k..
4x agp and 128MB aperture size in bios...fast write enabled..
I have an Epox 8k7a and anand used a 8kha+...I believe i read the performance difference b/t the two isnt too much
I have the newest drivers and am not waiting for vertical refresh during the test.

I know they disable sound in the gaming benchmarks, I'm not sure what else. It's fairly typical to see results that are slightly below that Anand and others will see on review sites for the Radeon 8500 and other cards as those are always tested on freshly built and formatted systems etc.

A 50 FPS difference is way too much though, I'd say your having some serious issues with your system if your results are that much lower.

Are they're any tweaks that would increase fps?

Make sure you disable Trueform, Smoothvision and anisotropic filtering.

Get rid of all the crap on your active desk-top/start-up programmes and such.

make sure v synch isn't killing you, and you have your agp drivers, etc. installed too.
