I see a lot of people going for the Asus P4333, but why? Doesn't the SiS underperform the i845 when using PC2100? Are there any better OCing abilities of the 645 like running PC2100 @ PC2700 speeds? Currently RDRAM costs a HELL lot cheaper than DDR. (Crucial has gone crazy with price gauging. $88.00 for 256MB PC2100?!?!?!)

Thanks

No, it doesn't seem to..... at least not by a noticeable amount. The P4S333 is also cheaper, and it has a few more options than the P4B266 such as supporting the 533MHz processors of the future (P4 2.6GHz and beyond).

[edit] Thanks Ken, I didn't realize the P4B266 had that option as well. [/edit]

The P4B266 does this too; the P4B266 runs stable at FSB's of up to (and beyond) 170MHz. Price and SIS vs Intel drivers are the main differences.

in earlier sis mobo that may have been true at pc2100, but newer a2 boards that is no longer true...with pc2700 it flat out pulls away and pulls up along side i850....

other things:

I think sis board only offers other then 1:1 ratio after 133fsb...couple that with the bottleneck the pc2100 will give in some of these large oc jobs on 1.6a and you have problems...I am running about 500mb/s more bandwidth at same fsb...If I get another bios upgrade like recnt with a 3:4 ratio and that is going to jump another 150-200mb/s more...
