Whut he done said there above me ^^^^^^^^^

I know that the Dell doesn't have HDMI and many people complain about that...it would be nice, but I'm not sure how I would use it over DVI. Is the picture quality that much better? That's what I'm wondering.

Thanks!

According to xtknight's LCD Buyer's Guide Thread in the video forum, this BenQ model blows the Dell out of the water. It's easily the best 24" according to him.

i don't understand why people keep on complaining about HDMI input. All in all it is a DVI input which also has audio line in it. So unless your monitor can output sound directly, there is no reason a monitor should ever need HDMI.

True... the big deal they make about HDMI seems kind of gimmicky to me. On the other hand, having HDMI and DVI effectively gives you two DVI ports, since you can easily convert between the two. So at the very least you're getting an extra digital input that supports HDCP.

That and you can actually use the monitor for devices other than your computer - which should be obvious with the component, composite, and S-Video ports also available for input.

It is true that you can usually use adapters for such things, but this just makes the monitor all the more valuable and less hassle.

Wow, and to think I was actually looking into buying this today. Lucky for me!

I find it superior to the Dell mainly because it has HDCP so you can use HD-DVD or Blu-ray, and it also has that extra HDMI port.

IQ seems to be either same or a little better than 2407.

How many dead pixels must you have before Newegg takes it back?

Any idea on how long this coupon will be valid?

Would the MPRT feature on the "gamer" display really be worth the 300+ extra?

Oh yeah, and let's not forget the "1337" metal frame. =/

Newegg didn't say how long the coupon would be good. But it still works as of this minute. The mod deleted it from my op, though, so I hope you wrote it down....

if anyone else needs the discount info the mods deleted from my original post, look up Newegg in the Stores section of another well known deal site. Its there--and is good until Dec. 11.

Very good review site:

According to TFTCentral, BenQ claims that the info posted in the behardware review is incorrect. http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news.htm#benq_auo
Edit: or, rather, at least that the final version of this monitor will have a true BFI and use an AU Optronics panel, like the fp241w.

Whether this is true or not remains to be seen, since even reps at BenQ don't seem to know what's going on, but I think we're going to have to wait until this monitor is officially released until we really know whether it's worth it or not.

I purchased this moniter using the Promo code which was e-mailed to me by Newegg *(its also posted on the FP241WZ thread under displays on Hard Forums .. on page 70) after reading many reviews & a ton of shopping around looking at 21, 22 & 24 inch screens & I have to say that short of a buddy of mines $1500 Eizo its about the nicest LCD I've seen, plus factor in free shipping & my 1% preferred account discount & my total cost was $744.

Near zero ghosting in games, no visable backlight bleeding, no noticable input lag, very accurate colors when compared to my 21 inch NEC Diamondtron CRT sitting next to it (except of course blacks which arn't perfect), DVD video from the PC looks very good played with WMP11 with software acceleration & great using Hardware acceleration with Power-DVD v7 and best of all zero dead/stuck pixels. (BenQ has a 7-day from purchase zero dead pixel warranty)

The only real negatives to it are no 1:1 pixel mapping, so 16:9, 4:3 etc inputs are stretched to 16:10 from non-PC sources which can look pretty ugly according to what I've read, but I'm only planning to use it with my PC anyway so this doesn't effect me much... X-box 360 users may want to wait until the next firmware update which supposedly will fix this problem. Also for those saying the WZ is going to be better, the reviews I've read are very mixed on that point with most of them saying that the W model is in fact a better screen overall, plus the WZ is likely to cost quite a bit more, however it is supposed to include the updated firmware.

For a lot more information about this moniter from folks that have owned it longer then me (and for the coupon code) head over to the monster-thread on Hard-forums.

Both the FP241W & WZ use an AU Optronics panel ... I believe the type is called P-MVA (?)

The consensus opionion of those who have used both on Hard Forum is that the BenQ is a bit better,
both are very nice moniters though & were two of my final three choices.

From the HardOCP forums, it seems that the image quality between the non-Z and the Z versions are dependent on how you are affected by BFI.
Also, there are mixed stories as to whether the non-Z will actually have 1:1 pixel mapping support or not.
BenQ states that the Z version will definitely ship with 1:1 pixel mapping, but no one has seemed to get any confirmation about the non-Z version, or at least whether a user can request the upgrade from a support center (and cost would still be an issue).

Nobody seems concerned with NewEgg's pathetic return policy. For that and that alone no LCD monitor purchase from NewEgg is above ice cold..

BenQ has a 7 day zero dead-pixel policy & Newegg will RMA this moniter for you if its defective for 30 days.

Edit: Although in fairness the Newegg dead-pixel warranty is a joke (8 dead before an RMA) & is the reason that up until now I refused to buy an LCD from them... in fact if it wasn't for the BenQ pixel warranty I wouldn't have bought this one despite the great price.
