By your "credit card", do you mean your Canadian credit card? NCIX does not take US credit cards, only PayPal. That's the only thing killing this deal for me.

I have the older firmware version (only for PC use) & its totally awesome... since I've bought it I've compared to the Dell & Gateway current 24's & its no question better, especially in fast paced games & DVD video .... if you've even been considering it, now is your moment!

Let us know how yours works out. I called to return my 2407wfp today, its inability to do 1:1 with the knowledge of an A04 that does was just too much for my conscience to bear. ): Hopefully there's some deal on this once it all gets sorted out and I decide which 24" to get instead. This is a pretty hot deal for the monitor that does everything I want....but there's the Gateway too that's a little bit cheaper and I can pick it up or exchange if I need to at a local B&M.

Mine hasn't shipped yet but the credit card payment has been processed. The November 06 Gateways run hot and have an annoying buzz reportedly. Plus the Gateway's level of blackness leaves to be desired it seems.

I'm curious...can someone explain the 1:1 firmware fix? Am I correct in assuming the "1:1 mapping" referred to here is for PCs that are outputting less than the monitor's native resolution where the user doesn't want the monitor to scale up to 1920x1200 (ie. if my computer is set to output 1600x1200 then, by God, I only want 1600x1200 pixels to be lit)?

Correct but that is useful mostly for people with consoles or if you want to play at a lesser resolution on your PC to have better image quality settings with a videocard that is no longer top notch. The monitor also does fixed aspect ratio if an old game is only 4:3 and you don't feel like editing it to play widescreen.

Against my better judgment, I'm going to get the Gateway 24" instead for @$570 or so. Won't be as nice as the BenQ probably, but it does 1:1 and should be at least as good as my Dell. Plus if its a dud, I can just walk into a B&M and exchange it.

I considered Gateway as well, but there seems to be so many flaws with it that I am not willing to gamble. If you visit Hard Forum, there are complaints of buzzing, severe corner bleeding, unsharp text, and buggy component inputs. I love it's motion sensing interface though.

If I am going to spend this much money, I think it is worth it to spend an extra $130 to get some features I am looking for: sharp text, great colors, and HDMI and DVI so I don't have to swap between PS3 and PC.

If only there was an LCD with Gateway's interface and PIP feature with BenQ's image quality and HDMI...

It's mainly for 1920x1080. If you scale to 1920x1200, you are causing every pixel to interpolate. Might as well use VGA.

This is not a crap, just a suggestion...

I have both a 2405FPW and Westy 37" and I would say by far I get more use out of the Westy. It has way more inputs/outputs and is frankly enormous compared to the 24" for about the same price give or take ~150. If you are going to drop a 1000 on your viewing experience, I would suggest you go all the way with a 1080p LCD tv.
