So, my new kitten can go diaf. While cleaning up a mess she just made and leaving her unsupervised for about 30 seconds, she did something to my computer. I don't know exactly what, but the only evidence of tampering to be found was an unplugged power cord to my monitor. The problem is that after plugging it back in, its max resolution is now 1024x768 and I'm stumped as to why.
Oddly enough there are two events under the device manager > monitors > generic Non-PnP Monitor that correspond with the timing of the power cord being ripped out / plugged back in:
1. Driver service added (monitor)
Driver Management has concluded the process to add Service monitor for Device Instance ID DISPLAY\DEFAULT_MONITOR\5&2A1DEA1F&0&UID2097424 with the following status: 0.
2. Device installed (monitor.inf)
Driver Management concluded the process to install driver monitor.inf_amd64_a14e372d8a0bba60\monitor.inf for Device Instance ID DISPLAY\DEFAULT_MONITOR\5&2A1DEA1F&0&UID2097424 with the following status: 0x0.
For some reason, when I turn the power to the monitor on from an off state, I get the two-tone windows "device disconnected" sound. This happens every time now and has never happened before. I'm running Win8 build 8250 and my GPU is a GTX 560 Ti. I've never heard of a problem like this before and really can't believe this is happening from a power cord coming unplugged...
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here?
