BenQ SW2700PT advice

I am currently looking for a new monitor. I would like something in the 27 inch range. I will use it for everyday computing (internet, Word, Excel), light gaming and most importantly photography (Lightroom, Photoshop).


I currently run a 3770k overclocked to 4.5 ghz and a 980ti overclocked to 1441. This is cooled with a custom loop. I could take my clocks up but this is the sweet spot I feel.


While I would like a 4k monitor, I feel the 980ti would struggle with gaming. I need something 10-bit and at least 100% of the sRGB color spectrum. High Adobe color percentage is a plus.


This has led me to the BenQ SW2700PT. Has anyone used It? Any other monitors I should be looking at?

I would think the 980 ti could work on 4K depending on the games and settings you want to run. Your list of requirements on the monitor will keep it on the slightly higher side regarding cost (if you need a true 10bit panel).

You will save some with the 2k monitor, I would probably base the decision on how that lower resolution would impact my photo work vs my gaming. You can sacrifice visual quality on games to get better performance, but if working in a lower resolution is more of a hassle or more difficult, there is no way to alleviate that through any software settings once you're locked into the 2K hardware.

I am debating on just going with the BenQ SW271 4K monitor. I will have to save up but it may be worth it in the end. 10-bit workflow would be awesome but I have found out the 980ti will not do openGL in 10-bit. Only the Quadro cards do this. I do not think this will be a big deal but most wide gamut monitors are 10-bit regardless.

I pretty much play total war games and tekken 7 from time to time. I may get back into flight Sims if time permits.
