Is he currently a Democrat?. I believe the Democratic Party changed their rules after Bernie's last run that you have to be a registered Democrat to run in their primaries. The question is will the Dems prevent Bernie from registering as a Democrat knowing he'd be using it only to use their primaries. Bernie got treated with kid gloves on the Dem side: Hillary didn't want to lose his supporters.

He won't have the novelty factor that he did in 2016 and he'll be four years older. If elected he'd be entering the White House at an older age than when Reagan left the White House.

I think Bernie will be lucky to meet the 15% threshold for winning delegates in most states. If he's still running after Super Tuesday, that fact will be of interest only to his most hard-core fans. But..what do I know. We elected Trump FFS.

I don't know if he can win or even that it is necessary for him to run, given the positions of others that essentially mirror his own. However, his consistency and the clarity he gives to his message will help all other candidates holding similar positions by making sure the message gets the Media attention it needs. In 2016 he and his message had a difficult time getting heard due to Clinton and Trump getting so much attention, this time will be very different.

Bernie is a career politician, he's good at doing one thing; getting reelected. He talks a good game but he doesn't have anything to show for it.

All I know is that if the democrats don't nominate the perfect candidate I'll be voting for a third party or for trump, especially if Bernie is elected.

Sanders offers the most free stuff and lowers the bar to a level where even the greatest of liberal losers can feel like they've achieved in life. He has a great shot in the primaries due to his enduring qualities with freeloaders.

It's not "free" if it's paid for by taxes, so no, they are not "freeloaders". I pay taxes for the healthcare here in Canada, and despite being a healthy person in the mid-30s (ie. not currently and continuously benefitting from it), I have no problem paying those taxes, for the day that I do need it. I'll feel good not to have to shell out big bucks when I do need it.

I assume by freeloaders, slow is referring to rich companies and 0.1%ers Trump showered with trillions in tax cuts, and not the struggling middle class just trying to care for their kids and not eat cat food in retirement.

Then again slow lives in upside-down land. How dare we ask the richest man in the world to contribute to the well-being of the nation that made him so wealthy.

They should let him in regardless. Let's see how he fairs in a real debate scrum.

Imo he's more of a thought leader/theorist than an actual executive.

He'll define the policy discussions, but I don't think he'll carry the nomination.

He's old, but Biden is as old and he's the frontrunner. Bernie Sanders is still as sharp and energetic as he's ever been. He's much younger mentally than the incoherent rambler sitting in the White House.

In the 2016 Primary election, Bernie’s Achille's heel was from African American and Latino voters. The media often tried to lead you to believe that Bernie Sanders did not appeal to minorities because he’s an old white man.
That is patently false. If you looked into the polls, it revealed that he did not have support amongst African Americans and Latinos because the majority of them simply were not familiar with him due to the media blackout on him. Among those who were familiar with Bernie, he had overwhelming support.
By now almost every African American and Latino are familiar with Sanders.

Single payer healthcare, prior to its introduction by Bernie Sanders 2016, was considered a fringe left. It was not discussed by any of the candidates or in the media. Today, the majority of the Primary candidates are campaigning for single payer healthcare. They know what it takes to win. The Democratic Party knows progressive policies is the only way to secure a victory. Identity politics have been tried and it’s failed. People want real solutions to the most significant problems facing the vast majority of this nation. Having a first woman president or being LGBT friendly are superficial campaign tactics that people see right through.

Among other progressive policies, most Americans recognize our government is corrupt with big money from special interests. In 2016, Bernie Sanders was the only politician funded completely from grassroots sources. He is not bounded by conflicts of interests. He makes campaign finance reform a central part of his campaign.
Lastly, raising top marginal tax rates closer to pre-Regan era rates is enormously popular now. Even Fox News polls show 70% of Americans supporting this. Supply-side economics was sold to us with the idea that this would create opportunities and jobs. However, what has happened instead is wage stagnation and a massive rise in wealth inequality.
Bernie Sanders brought these core issues that America faces to the national discourse and proposes policy solutions that have been implemented successfully in most developed nations around the world. It’s no wonder he’s become the most popular politician in America.

My big fear is that he will turn into a corporatist union buster the minute somebody waves a dollar bill under his nose or he'll pick Dick Cheney as his running mate. There are just so many real things to worry about with him running as candidate. I have to stop typing now so that I can eat the rest of my fingers, having bitten off all of my nails. So so much concern....................

I think that kind of backstab would trigger the next Civil War.

The GOP loves Bernie because of his dirty rotten Leftist America hatin' roots. That's right. They worked up a great slime campaign in waiting just for him back in 2016. In the meanwhile all the insincere Bernie Bots will be back in force, bet on that. And the Faithful will fail to recognize that they're being trolled or that Bernie has the same sort of emotional hold on them that Trump has on his devotees. He alone can save us!

Outstanding, I hope Bernie wins, or at least pushes various topics to the forefront.

Even though I am a far right wing conservative, I feel people should have healthcare, and affordable housing... etc.

Not at all. I feel we need people like Bernie to bring about real change.

I think the dude is a loon but still liked him better than Trump in 2016 and think he should have been the nominee over Clinton. Feelings about him and preference of him (or anyone else) over Trump haven’t changed for 2020 but he’ll never get the Dem nom. I don’t know who will but it won’t be Sanders.

I think the Martian Synchronization has warned the Galactic Federated Council of Agglomerations that any attempt to initialize a progressive socialism within the major powers on Earth as a spontaneous eruption of local fervor will trigger 5th level remediation. What you should worry about, I think, is who would win such a war. You might begin by asking who has all the guns.

I don't take every conservative poster here as being honest about what they say, but I do take @Texashiker at his. Just saying.....

I didn't say he was dishonest, just inconsistent. I mean, Trumpsters for Bernie? It only works when your main concern is the Strong Leader! delusion. It doesn't matter what direction you're headed just so long as the person you're following appears to be strong.
