I have a question.. I bought a 1.6A just like everyone else. I also got a Asus P4S333 and 512mg Mushkin DDR2700. It should do 133fsb no problem right? I have yet to load an OS yet but will probably do so next week. It looks like most people like the SiS chipset but then again some don't. I'm not looking to do 150FSB so I'm not worried about that.

But it is a good mobo right?

Ok, one more question. My chip is a Costa Rica..... But just last week my mom and the mom-in-law saud they wanted new PC too. So I bought them both the exact same thing I got.....1.6a,p4s333 but with crucial ddr 2100...Anyways, one of the new chips I just got for their systems was a Myliasia(sp). Should I swap out my costa rica for the myla.. chip? Or does it matter. I thought the mylasia chip was the hot ticket but then I think Thugs has a costa rica right?

Thanks guys.

It does not matter. One thing you should do though is test every chip for its max potential and keep the best for you.

so when I throw my case on the table and start O/Cing and then pulling chips out all night and the wife says, "what are you doing"? I just say, " looking for the best performer so I can give the left overs to our moms".

Something like that?

Why hasn't anyone tried the 845G yet?? Should be as stable as the 845D, plus it has USB 2.0 and some optimization that Intel built-in that tests have shown to be faster than 845D. Thugs, you mentioned the P4B533 that has the 845G - here's Asus' oc info

Extreme Overclocking
ASUS P4B533 offers the most overclocking options available to maximize your system performance.
Easy DIP Switch or Jumperfree? overclocking from BIOS
Flexible CPU Core Voltage Adjustments in 0.025V increments over defaults
Accurate 1MHz adjustments of system-bus-frequency
Adjustable memory voltage
Adjustable AGP/PCI freqency setting and CPU/MEM frequency ratio
Rock-solid stability

old fart
"Those settings are?? Maybe I can try them in the Epox. They may apply to different boards (you never know). Actually, I can get over 150 FSB. My CPU will go to ~ 2.65 Ghz with the stock HS/Fan and no wire trick. It needs more Vcore than I like though. I chose to run it @ a lower FSB, less Vcore and boost up the mem speed instead. "

very important:

USB Function = Disable
Plug and Play OS = No

one w/o the other only go ME to 2.5 gig
if you get higher w/ your overclocking, buy an add on card for your usb peripherals
i just installed an IO gear pci 2port one and all is well

what does p+p OS do exactly?
it does not seem to have any effect
it does not appear to do the obvious, because when i installed my usb-pci card
both win xp pro, and win 2k pro found the card(hard drives are mobile racked)
when p+p os=no

PNP OS = Disabled
that means the motherboard rules the bios - OS cannot make changes to its config.

PNP OS = Enabled
that means the OS can make changes to the moboard bios's config.

there is no reason to let the OS run the bios.
