My problem is my system components are to hot.
Even when I used a Geforce7 it was hotter than what everyone else got.

My front case fan whines on startup and doesnt seem to be pushing much air. I think its dying.. and theres a metric ton of dust built up in the front that I need to blow out (dont have any air right now).

My GPU is about 10C higher on idle and under use than what reviews show it supposed to being and I dont see any reason why this rig doesnt run cooler. My CPU is currently running stock (with CnQ) and its also always been warmer than I thought should be.

ATM nv monitor is telling me my GPU is sitting at 71C, System@45C and CPU@39C (currently at 1volt/1.2ghz..)

I'm going to go get a can of compressed air tonight from the store and order a new case fan from newegg, just need the right one

Getting fresh clean air is important but its probably more important to get the air out once its inside. I consider two fans bare minimum at best. An extra exhaust fan would probably help alot.

I've been looking round at fans and found the Xilence Red Wing listed on e-bay. I'm not sure of how accurate these numbers are or if I am missing something, they just seem stupidly good.

dimensions:
120x120x25

voltage:
12 VDC

start voltage:
6 VDC

power consumption:
< 1,2 W

rated current:
< 0,10 A

fan speed:
1.400 rpm +/- 10%

bearing type:
hydro bearing

max. air flow:
68 CFM

air pressure: 2,3 mmAq
noise level:
21,2 dB

weight:
140 g

68CFM for only 21.2db.... can that be right?

Wow you cpu is lower temp than you system temp. To me that says that
you are getting pretty good cooling.

Ain't gonna happen, not in this life time.

68cfm @ 12V and 21.2dBA @ 6V...betcha! Just like Thermaltake specs thier fans.

nycdude, This forum seems to like CoolerMaster LED fans.

NOTE: Clear plastic fans resonate more(more noise) than black plastic fans, as per SPCR.

I use 120mm Yate Loon fans because they're cheap and quiet.

I'm planning on using the 250mm fans from Performance PCs as my side intakes. The 17-19dBA is what makes it for me.

I did think those particular stats seemed a little ridiculous!

I've been looking round for something a little more believable I'm considering getting the Akasa Amber Series.
- 44.8CFM
- 1400 RPM
- 18dBA

The problem with all this is that by the time Ive spent all this money I would have done better to just get a watercooled system!

How you gonna move air through the radiator? All PC cases need some active air flow, a 120 in the PSU and/or an exhaust/intake fan.

The Akasa series are rated in the real world not fantesy.

The fan you spoke of is 25mm thick, moves more air and is rated quieter than the 38mm thick Arctic fan I linked.

Yate Loons are a cheap way out. If I needed fans, the Arctics would be near the top of a very short list.

Nexus are pretty good, because they are the most silent fans you could get. Evercool/Enermax, panafalos or yale loons are also good.

Yep, but less airflow is needed in a watercooled, so I would make do with the three I have installed in my case as stock (Antec Tricool fans on the P180B case). I want to get an intake fan on the front just to ensure a nice cool system but it is not 100% necessary, this needs to be quiet above all else as being an "insurance" fan I dont want it to make my system noisy!
