I have the same question.. Price is not an issue, dB-age is..

I'm looking for 28-32 dB max, since I'll put 5-6 in a case (2 back, 1 front, 2/3 on future rad).

Not sure if I understand the question but CFM is cubic feet per minute. 53 CFM is a good deal of flow and should be good for just about any application you want. Its about the same amount of flow as a Thermaltake Big Typhoon.

Also, remember that sound level measurement via decibels is logarithmic. That is to say, something that is 50 db is MUCH MUCH louder than something 25 db (not just twice as loud). In power terms, you double power everytime you increase by 3 dB (slightly different for acoustics though). This chart can help a bit:

dB(SPL) Source (with distance)
250 Inside of tornado; conventional or nuclear bomb explosion at 5 m.
180 Rocket engine at 30 m; blue whale humming at 1 m;
Krakatoa explosion at 100 miles (160 km)[1]
150 Jet engine at 30 m
140 Rifle being fired at 1 m
130 Threshold of pain; train horn at 10 m
120 Rock concert; jet aircraft taking off at 100 m
110 Accelerating motorcycle at 5 m; chainsaw at 1 m
100 Jackhammer at 2 m; inside disco
90 Loud factory, heavy truck at 1 m
80 Vacuum cleaner at 1 m, curbside of busy street
70 Busy traffic at 5 m
60 Office or restaurant inside
50 Quiet restaurant inside
40 Residential area at night
30 Theatre, no talking
10 Human breathing at 3 m
0 Threshold of human hearing (with healthy ears)

Just got the Silverstone fans delievered, and I can vouch for how quiet they are. I was concerned because they use a 4 pin molex, so speed control would have been a problem. I can run these at full speed and they are VERY quiet... almost silent.

Also, props to Frozen CPU for an excellent, professional sleeving job! The power cabling is 19" long! They sleeved the fans great!

In acoustics, 3db is about the resolution of the human ear. IOW, a 3dB change is about the minimum that can be distinguished as a change in level. Approx 10dB change is perceived as a doubling in sound level.

There are fan manufacturers that are considered to be at the top of the field. Among them are Delta, Sanyo Denki, Panasonic/NMB which are from the same company now, Nidec, Papst and ADDA. There are others that are now popular in terms of low noise, but almost none of them put out significant air or run higher than the low rpm range (generally less than 1500). It's easy to make a quiet fan when you limit yourself to those specs. IAC, there are tons of threads here on the same topic, no need of another. A brief search will find you the info you need.

53CFM / 26 db, and you can get them now.

Mine are coming today to cool my new Black Ice Extreme III.

I could be mistaken but I think my case shipped with two of those in my SS Tenjin-06, they are quiet but the bearings are already wearing out in one of them after 4 months. I will have to double-check the model numbers when I get home.

Their website states they come with a 3-pin connector, did you get yours with a 4-pin?

Do you know how they compare to the Yate Loons? I'm also looking for a couple of 120mm fans and their specs are similar.

The AC's are due out this month, I believe.

I have a few of these and they're pretty quiet. 55cfm 25dba for $7.

Edit: No RPM on these if that makes a difference.

I own 6 of these in many rigs. They cost a bit more, but are definately the BEST 120mm noiseerformance fans on the non-experimental market.

I've just read up on the new Arctic Fan 8, 9, and 12 models, and everything was looking good.......until i read that they only work as exhaust fans. I'm currently looking for some fans as well to replace my stock Thermaltake Tsunami ones, but theres too many too choose from....
