Hi,

I am looking at upgrading my 6 year old Samsung T260HD Monitor. I have been considering the Dell U2715H but it is really pricey (£485 here in the UK) Can you provide some alternatives?

Ideally I am looking for an IPS panel with a 1440p or above resolution.

Although I'm only running a GTX670 so cant really touch the 4K resolutions, This monitor seems like a steal:

That looks good, but I forgot to mention im looking for a 26"-29" monitor.

The Acer K272HUL is half the price of the Dell and has good specs on paper......

Are you looking for the best monitor or the one with the best value while still being 27" 1440p IPS?

Sorry I should have been more clear, I don't have a specific price range in mind but I am looking for a good quality 26-29" IPS monitor.

The Asus is overpriced over here in the UK, i cant find one for under £400~450

How about the AOC Q2770PQU? The exterior is a bit shabby but This is an S-IPS monitor and every review I can find gives it 4 or 5 stars

This is one of most detailed display reviews Ive ever read. If anyone is interested.

I've always been impartial to Dells. And LG too I guess, since they're the only ones making the ips panels last I checked.

If you're looking for a 10 bit panel, hard to beat the Dell U2711 (ccfl backlight) or U2713H (led backlight). Otherwise you should still be happy with their -HM variants.

In my experience it boils down to the warranty and OSD options, for which Dell is great on the latter. If you're worried about the stand then you can always pick up a Dell RM360 (?) stand, they're comparable to the Ultrasharp stands in terms of quality and movements and can be had for around 20 usd on ebay, at least in the US.

I picked up my u3011 and 2007fp combo for 475 used, the u3011 still has warranty too. I'm extremely satisfied with them.

Hey Lava, What connection are you using? The "most helpful review" mentions 50hz via HDMI and 60hz via DisplayPort. Have you tried (or read) of anyone overclocking the refresh rate? What been your overall experience with resolution support/scaling in games?

running Displayport. Haven't tried overclocking it... As far as my experience is concerned. My 4k, u3014, and 120 hz all got sidelined. The screen is epic. Can't wait for a true successor.

Support wise, pretty much every modern AAA game has 21:9 support and anything that doesn't I can run 2560x1440 at just about the same size as a 27" 16:9. Even the onboard speakers are decent for when I don't use headphones. This keeps the cable clutter down as the audio is passed through the video cable.

The only trouble I have is the Titan Z goes out of sync upon wake from sleep which I ended up disabling as a fix.

Some people complain about light bleed. Mine has minimal so for me it is a non issue. Amazon has had them in stock at $809 or something all week. A steal if you ask me. I almost want to get another one just to hug and hold at night.

Those 21:9 screens are sexy, the idea of purchasing one has crossed my mind many times but my love for older games and the chance of no 21:9 support gets in the way.

It's not like the monitor doesn't work when there isn't 21:9 support. Like I said mine goes from 34 ultra wide down to a 27 wide when needed. Do you think that is horrible?

Black bars on a 16:10 u2412m pretty much bothered me every time i loaded netflix, older games drive me looney every time they didn't even support widescreen lol.

Need a quality big t.v and a Roku box to solve my 16:9 compatibility problems, i play my older games occasionally but i could live without them if 21:9 wouldn't work.My old games are 7+ years old,its time to move on lol.

Mostly playing BF4/BF3/WOT and i know 21:9 works with those, plus the many other titles i want to pick up later next year that are new

Its convenient if you ask me. 21:9 'should be' the perfect res especially for watching movies as it can use the whole screen vs black bars above/below on 16:9/10 screens. I would take one of these over a 4k any day of the week. Although I hear gaming performance is not stellar due to lag on the LGs.

Thanks Lava. Yea this one looks nice. I like one screen, like LG's IPS panels, and have enough GPU to run this res. 4K a no go for a while.

Any chance you could test a custom resolution? Create one using nv cp, leave everything default except change refresh from 60hz to 65hz, test, if works bump to 70, up to say 80? Curious if it'll work with DisplayPort, I've had mixed results with HDMI.

dang, i payed 700$ for that monitor 2 years ago

and i love it!

You have a 1440p monitor? I always thought you were a filthy casual that mostly hangs out in OT forum. I guess I should judge people more carefully.

My Catleap is still going strong, it's been more than 2 years. A steal for $300, some landed units that even go beyond 60Hz.

Found a good deal for the Dell U2715H so decided to buy that. I'm hoping for a decent upgrade over my 6 year old TN panel.

There aren't any reviews for it at the moment so hopefully I've not made a mistake with this one. If anyone would like me to give first impressions when I recieve it PM me or post on this thread.

I got it to work but only up to 61 hz... anything higher resulted in a mess on my screen. Currently running it with a 1 hz overclock, YES OMG!!! the difference is surreal.... not. lol. I'll keep it oc'ed because I can.

Thanks for checking Lava, and for the recommendation. I may grab one next month.
