i only said iiyama vision master pro 410 since he did say "BEST" not on value. Also the g400s break for one reason. Because onvia uses UPS and UPS is evil.

If UPS sucks, then I dont know what doesnt. Plus, I dont see any other brand break during shipping.

The Pro 410 is worse than 700NF in specs, obviously not the best.

Many people dont know that, thats why they keep saying stuff like Sony and Iiyama makes the absolute best monitors.

Is Samsung 700NF really better then Samsung 700IFT?

There is same spec. except dot pitch
700IFT = 0.20 dot pitch
700NF = 0.25 AG pitch

AG means what?

AG means Aperture Grille.

The 700IFT has 0.20mm horizontal dot pitch, which translate to about 0.24 diagonal dot pitch(diagonal is what really counts), and 0.25 AG pitch is already very good.

And is NF so much better than IFT? You have to answer that question yourself. AGs and Shadow Masks are two totally different things, some people like one, some people like the other. We cant answer that for you.

Oh yes it will bankrupt you, dare to compare?

Iiyama VisionMaster Pro 410
~$370
1600x1200 max res(refresh rate unknown)
160MHz video bandwidth
DiamondTron NF

Samsung SyncMaster 700NF
~$290
1600x1200 max res(75Hz)
205MHz video bandwidth
DiamondTron NF

Now let me ask you this no brainer question, which one is the better deal?

Excuse me, but who in the H@## uses a 17" @ 1600x1200..... Who Cares. As for normal viewing ranges for a 17", say 10x7 or 11x8 I like the new Viewsonic Flat screen EF70.

Who cares? CAD users care, Photoshop users care, PROFESSIONALS care. And by having resolutions as high as 1600x1200, it also enables you to use ultra-high refreh rates at lower resos such as 1280x1024(90Hz) and 1024x768(120Hz) which Im sure many regular users will appreciate. The ViewSonic "E" series, they flat out sucks, does it have as high of a video bandwidth? How about BNC? The price tag? Dude, get real.

LXi, sorry to ruffle your feathers, but I can't see anyone who is serious about graphics using a little 17" monitor, so I justified my view by general usage. I have a friend who has a Sony G400 and a Viewsonic EF70 sittin side-by-side, and I can't see any difference in clarity, color, saturation or text....that's all.

Ok I just did an edit, Ill repost what I added.

"And by having resolutions as high as 1600x1200, it also enables you to use ultra-high refreh rates at lower resos such as 1280x1024(90Hz) and 1024x768(120Hz) which Im sure many regular users will appreciate."

With the 700NF, you can do what I described above, with the EF70, you can forget about it. And since they both use DiamondTron NF, the less likely you'll see the image quality difference anyway. The edge goes to higher video bandwidth, higher specs, and lower price.

OK...I'll give you that...but can you honestly tell me that you can tell the difference between a refresh rate of 100+ or 85? I must admit I wasn't thinking about bandwidth, bnc's or refresh rates, just best overall bang. I blasting through my screens right now and I can't tell any difference above 85 or so.

No you will not notice the difference, but it still doensnt change the fact that faster refresh rates are better for your eyes. I know many users who use 1280x1024 on their 17", can you do that on your EF70? Sure can, with a lackluster 65Hz refresh rate. Or would you rather have the 700NF and run 1280x1024@85Hz? Video bandwidth is also a disaster, 110MHz compare to 700NF's 205MHz. Considering the fact that they're priced similarly, I see little reason to go for the EF70.

Ok, no hard feelings. Not saying the EF70 is bad, after all its a still DiamondTron NF. Hell, its better than my Sony ES200.

Iiyama Vision Master Pro 410 17" IS the best 17" monitor ive seen to date

Ive got a Sony GDM 400 PST 19" next to my Iiyama. The Iiyama makes the Sony look like a cheaper monitor!
Iiyama Pro 410 has flatter screen, better colour, heh - better everything.

After buying my Iiyama i WILL NOT be buying another Sony

rockhard:

Comparing oranges to apples there?

The Iiyama is a pure flat current generation Aperture Grille tube, the 400PS is a vertically-flat only last generation Aperture Grille tube. Its obvious the DiamondTron NF tube should have no problems handling the regular Trinitron. Compare that Pro 410 to an FD Trinitron, then you'll know what Im talking about.

LXi Heh, u got a point there

Im so impressed in my lil Iiyama im really tempted to sell my Sony and get the Vision Master 450 19" instead. If its like the 17" and reasonably priced then maybe.
I was quite surprised how much better the picture quality is on the Iiyama than my Sony. The GDM400PST was a year or so ago supposed to be the cream of the 19" ers yeah?

Oh well, off to some review reading i guess,

Well, Im sure FD Trinitron became mainstream a year ago. The 400PS was "the 19-inch" to get back in 1998 and early 1999, but it was replaced by the CPD-G400. If you really like the DiamondTron NF, and are considering a 19", I highly recommend the Samsung SyncMaster 900NF, comparable specs to the VisionMaster Pro 450, with a $150 USD price advantage.

The Vision Master Pro 450 is £386.00
The Samsung 900NF is £393.00

Which would u go for seeing as price is equal?
Iiyama's great warranty and service makes me feel biased towards the Iiyama. Whats Samsungs like for warranty service?

Samsung's warranty is top notch, its up there with KDS(considered the best). Im not sure why the UK prices are so awckward, here the Samsung is a tad cheaper.
