Cnet rates the Z-2300 as the best. However, tons of user reviews say otherwise. Gonna be using this mostly for music, dvds, and some games (BF2). I will not be BLASTING them so a speaker that sounds good at a low level would be nice with a good range. Also, i don't need alot of bass and I usually turn it down. I like hearing what the singers are saying rather then the thumpin...

Thinkin bout Klipshe

I love my Klipsch Promedia 2.1. It was one of the priciest 2.1 systems, but I purchased them about 4 years ago and I havent found the need to upgrade them. I definitely think these speakers offer the best midrange sound, if there is a bestbuy or compusa nearby I would suggest you try all the different 2.1s and see which one sounds the best to your ears.

Bose speakers rock, im listening to music on them right now and i love em. Lets all go out and find a bad review of something and take it as "the word". I havn't read any reviews buy my ears once told me Klipsch and altec lansing suck. and they're telling me right now that my BOSE companion 3 multimedia speakers sound sharp and sweet. My only alternative to Bose is Logitech - great company

I am really happy you like your Bose speakers. That said, to me they are all highly overpriced. Amazon is selling the z-2300s for $60AR. Honestly if you need better quality than that I would buy an inexpensive reciever and 2 good bookshelf speakers.

Klipsch Promedia 2.1, 4.1, or 5.1 ultras are real nice. (I have 4.1's) Klipsch ifi's are real nice also.

And "Nicknamesuck" you are a RETARD. Blose sucks at every possible level. Not to mention they are way overly priced. Blose: Better profits through deception.

I would also stay away from creative and logitech, unless you want to spend upwards of 400 dollars for a decent system, their low end systems are crap. Klipsch is the way to go.

You need to tell us what's your budget when you ask for advice. If you want the best speakers I can recommend you some $100,000 "pc" speakers.

Logitech Z2300's for $60.00
At this price you can try them out. I had my wife buy them for me for Christmas, one of my llabtec pulse speakers just died that I've had for several years, these should do the job I think.

Yes I read what you said, I can't speak for what they sound like since i haven't listened to them personally. However you should be able to turn the base down on the sub if you don't want base.

The Z2300's are great. I'm no audiophile, but they are some of the best 2.1 speakers I have used and for under $100 they can't be beat.

These look pretty sexy http://www.gryphon-audio.dk/content/product.asp?ProductID=27
Only $149,900, that's over $100,000 off.
Do they come with 1 or 2 bedrooms? ...

speaking of bedrooms, if you're going to put these in a bedroom they had better be on the first floor or you're going to have some angry delivery men. Almost 2000 pounds for the whole set.

Thanks.

The subwoofer has a plate amp in the back ot it, and that powers both the subwoofer and the satellite speakers that connect to it.

If you want something superior buy a BR-1 kit and a nice amp. Blow away anything else in this thread.

And if you're going to bust out with the super $10k range, don't forget Kharma

Bose speakers are A-weighted. There have been no A-weighted commercial designs since the 1970s. Imagine feeding a signal that is flat in amplitude into Bose speakers, and the output you get looks like a semi-circle. Bose speakers have generally been good for old people because they focus on the mid-range frequencies and drop off everything else. If you want to watch action movies without hearing much noise (yet still hearing dialogue), this is the speaker for you.

If you are buying speakers for music, Bose is probably as bad as you can do. They are not accurate. If you like your music A-weighted, listen to A-weighted music, don't buy speakers that are A-weighted. If that logic escapes you, imagine having the choice of two cars, A and B, at the same price. Car B is worse in every measurable performance aspect. You like to drive slowly, and thus choose Car B. Now you could buy the more fuel efficient, more powerful car, but instead you spend more for a slower gas guzzler because you think buying a slower car is a good idea if you don't like moving fast. If this analogy escapes you, enjoy your Bose speakers.

I won a 25% amazon coupon and am now shopping around Figured I'd upgrade my speakers and looked at the z-2300. I'm no audiophile so I probably can't tell what's missing, but is the price difference between the Logitech's and the Klipsch's really worth it if I don't have that much money to spend? (college student who lives off allowance *blink*)

If you don't really need much bass, why not go with the Klipsch 2.0. I've heard pretty good reviews on those.

You don't need that sub. Get a 2.0 set. It's imperative you hear this advice.

But if not, remember you can always return the Logitechs if you think its too bassy.

I just got the Logitech z2300s.
The sats absolutely STINK for musical reproduction- very thin sound, hollow, clear highs but no warmth. Like bad AM radio music. I plugged in my EVSonics XS sats with 4"driver and 1'tweeter and it's alot better.
The sub is fine- very strong, transparent sound. I haven't pushed it yet, I'm afraid to.
My sound card is a Santa Cruz.

I recommend either the Altec Lansing MX5021s or the Klipsch 2.1s for music.
The Swan M200s are good for 2.0

it really depends what you want to spend and how "audiphile" your ears/imagination are.

I got me very cheap ($29 shipped, buy.com) Logitech X-230 and for the price those are outstanding speakers for gaming, listening to music and watching movies.
Although, they have a pretty hefty bass so you might not like them. Anyway in my opinion unbeatable for $29 and i have a hard time legitimating MUCH more expensive speakers for the occasional stuff on the PC.

I'm happy with the Z-2300's for the price... They are stupidly cheap, and IMO they sound better than what you pay.

I went w/ them to save desk space. Quite happy I did to be honest.
