BEST 2.1 speakers?

Which model? I'm thinking it is between the Klipsh 2.1s and the Logitech Z2200. Can anybody give me input on this? This will mostly be for MP3s and such with occaisional games/DVD and I don't want the subwoofer to drown out everything else. Are there any other speakers I should be looking at, and what specific 2.1 should I be looking at from Klipsh? Thank you very much and respond soon, as I am trying to make a decision now!

And lastly, how would the Logitech Z560s (4.1) fit in the scheme of things considering my needs, thanks!

I'm using the Klipsch 2.1's, theyre fabulous. Can't compare to the other brands listed, but you certainly wont be disappointed if you go with Klipsch.

I recently bought a pair of Creative I-trigue L3500s specifically for music, and on the minor side to me, gaming sound effects. I like them much more than my previous Monsoon PlanarMedia 9s. Definitely would recommend it. And FWIW, I also own the Midiland S2-4100 and Klipsch Promedia 4.1s. I personally don't dig the Promedia's much for music because their midrange is on the dry side, and the sibilance is just insane coming out of them due to the horns they use.

I haven't actually heard a pair of Logitechs in my own room, but from what I've heard of them in-store, I'd say they're mostly lower midrange/bass heavy. i.e. the sats sounded pretty muffled on the highs, and the sub was just pounding away like crazy, with the bass knob on the default middle. Not what I'd call ideal for music.

I've listened to many different speaker systems, and I'd say the top 2 for listening to music have to be the Monsoon Planarmedia 14's and the EV SonicXS 2.1 system. They both put out really high quality sound. The SonicXS isn't the best looking system in the world, but you can find them for $50 on sale. The Monsoon's look nice, but generally sell for closer to $100.

i had the Klipsch 2.1s but i upgraded to the 4.1s. the 2.1s are amazing but there are better ones out they for sinmilar or more cost. but if you go with the klipsch you will be very happy. amazing bass and great nmids and higs

Planar Media's or Monsoons are the best 2.1 sound. Good luck finding them though.

Diamond Audio used to make the best computer speakers, too bad they have switched completely to all car audio now. The link to their PC speakers are no longer even reachable from the main page.

if you don't want the subwoofer to drown anything out... definately get the klipsch...
logitechs are known for having BIG BOOMY bass that drowns out the music

I love my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. These speakers are the BEST!!!! They are the #1 2.1 speakers period.

I just bought the Logitech Z-560's, and they are amazing. There is an adjustment for bass, so really that isn't an issua (and it sounds just fine at any level). Where are you planning on buying them? I ask because you can get the Z-560's for rather cheap online, and they are 4.1 with 2x the wattage (I got mine for $139@ newegg, but they just raised their price to $152). These things either tie with or win against the Klipsch 4.1's in all the reviews I've read and retail for $100 less. Those 2200's do look pretty good though... \


EDIT-Also, don't go for the klipsches just because they cost more. Take a look at the reviews for the Z-560's and you'll see that most everyone says they sound just as good for $100 less. Just my 2 cents.

Klipsch's are the best sounding. If you want looks, though, check out the Harmon-Kardon Creature speakers. They sound horrible (a whole, what, 15watts combined?) but they're possibly the best looking speakers around.

Klipsch's are popular, but that doesn't neccessarily mean they're the best. They're very good to be sure, but I still say if you're purpose is listening to music, you're much better off going for the EV SonicXS or the Monsoon PlanarMedia 14. Awesome sound from both of those.

i still hate the klipsch's volume pots... there was an issue with them and dust.. causing static when you changed the volume. These were w/ the original klipsch 4.1s. I was looking at a set of 2.1's cause I didn't want surround anymore... and they STILL had that problem.
