LG L226WTQ. I'd put the Samsung as 2nd best. Look in the Video section for more info. xKnight has a great stickied thread there with all the best choices for various needs.

I have the Samsung 225bw and i LOVE it. Best monitor i have ever owned. I have recommended it to 4 friends everyone of them as bought it and love it. Not one of them has had a single dead pixel or above average backlight bleeding. I got it at Sams Club since they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee incase of dead pixels. I believe Costco carries this model too.

LG226WTQ is, so far, the best 22 incher. The 226BW comes in a close second, but only when it has the Samsung panel - the other panel variants make it not as good.

i'm actually going to buy a 22" monitor tomorrow afternoon, and right now i have it narrowed down to either the LG L226WTQ or the Samsung 226BW... i can get them both for the same price at futureshop.ca (349.99)

some of you say that the LG is the better of the 2, but i like how the Samsung is black (the LG is grey), but there is also no way to guarantee which panel you will get with the Samsung (A,C, or S)

so is the LG really alot better than the Samsung, or will i notice no difference between the 2? i have only really used 1 lcd before and it's my brother's L1750S which he got a while ago, and i really don't see anything wrong with it.

20in LCD = 1680x1050 Native Res
22in LCD = 1680x1050 Native Res
24in LCD = 1920x1200 Native Res

Why would anyone buy a 22in LCD? Go for the cheaper 20in panels to save some money, or save your money for a while longer and get the superior 24in panel. Unless, you find the rare 22in LCD with a higher resolution . . .

I have one of the non-marked Samsung 226bw's (most of the new ones are not distinguished as an A, C, or S panel), and it is a wonderful monitor. I plan to buy another one soon.

None.

22" = TN = okay at best.

My pick is the HP W2207.

For those who prefer the duller matte finish screens, then the Samsung or LG mentioned numerous times here already would be my other suggestion.

so you dont know which panel you got? all of the new ones arent marked, but that doesnt mean that the A, C, and S panels arent still out there. Samsung just took the label off of the case

thats what i think too, but when you are limited to $400 CAN at most, you have to learn to live with a TN, not a $1600 30" S-IPS

No, I do not know what panel I got. I love this monitor and it looks great, so I honestly do not care.

You'll probably only notice a difference if both monitors are side by side or you're a really discerning person. Since both monitors you're comparing are TNs anyway, a layman will be pretty hard pressed to see any difference. I'm on a Samsung 216BW myself and it looks great. You won't be disappointed with either choice. If the bezel design or color scheme is a plus for you, go for the 226BW

The Viewsonic VG2230WM will drop to within an inch of the bottom bezel when set to its lowest height. It's also weight balanced so you just push down or pull it up without having ti disengage any mechanisms or exert any significant force. Like I said, best stand and bezel on the market Take a look for yourself.

Another vote for the Viewsonic VG2230WM...A friend bought it and its very nice. If you get the "C" version of the Samsung monitor, it will be very much like the Chi Mei 22" monitor (same panel) which costs a lot less. I've purchased several of the Che Mei LCDs and they've all been great.
