But then you buy a shit stand and bezel and have to fork out an additional $40 to get a decent solution. That is, unless, you're comfortable stacking your swanky new panel on a pile of books and magzines just to get a comfortable viewing height.

i have had my dell 22 inch since just after boxing day ...ima still LOVING it! =)

ok, so i went to future shop today to buy a new monitor, and was pretty much set on the Samsung 226bw, but when i got there i saw a nice looking LG L226WA, and i also saw 3 or 4 226bw's on the shelf being sold cheap because of "open box"... that got me kinda suspicious about the panels that future shop was selling. the 226bw was 349.99 and the LG was 379.99

so i ended up buying the LG L226WA, and i definitely dont regret it

i dont see why most people wouldnt even consider a TN, because i like it... im sure if i put it next to a S-IPS i would notice a difference, but on its own i really see nothing wrong with it... sure, a little blacklight bleeding, but thats expected right? the colors look great to me, maybe not to a professional photographer, but they're definitely sharper and more lively than my CRT

all in all, i really like it

oh, and whats the best way to check for dead pixels?

the lg is black also, its just a flat black vs the samsung's glossy bezel. however the stand itself on the lg is a glossy black. after having used both for an extensive period of time, i think they are both great values around $300 (on rebate or sale/free shipping) for general computer usage. they are very good to acceptable for my uses (some multimedia, gaming, general use). i prefer the lg simply b/c there is no panel lottery and i prefer the flat black/matte bezel that doesnt reflect light or attract finger prints like my roommate's 226bw does (i grab @ my monitor bezel all the time to adjust it slightly). plus i've read that the driver program for the lg is better... oh and you can turn off the blue light on the front

i'm watching the prices/rebates on the lg fairly closely hoping to pick one up for my new place soon (next month or so).
