Best 30" monitor?

Really hard to find many reviews on 30" monitors. Any recommendations?

I really like the aesthetics of the Apple 30" display but the price is high and response time seams high. What are you 30" guys using?

I'm not sure what you mean by "best" nor what you would mostly use your screen for, but I love my Dell WFP3007-HC. The picture looks great and it has the lowest input lag I've seen on such a big screen. It's a great gaming monitor.

It is certainly not the best reviewed, but I have been extremely happy with my Samsung 305T Plus.

Wait for the new Dell U2711 - it's shipping in few weeks and based on preliminary reviews it's better than any 30" out there while offering a decent 27" H-IPS panel with 2560x1440 resolution.

Considering it's 16:9, I doubt it.

Ehh? Just what 16:9 has to do with panel & picture quality...?

Speaking of 16:9 - sticking with 16:10 only made sense 'til 1920x1200, above it it makes literally zero difference.

I don't know, I'm usually disappointed looking at 30", but I've seen praise for the LG W3000H. For sale at newegg.

That should be an extremely nice display.

But the pixel pitch is going to be hard on the eyes.

I already have to increase font sizes on 30"
On a 27", it's going to be even worse.

Also yeah, i hate 16:9 in PC displays...

I have a Dell 3008WFP and I am very happy with it. I had the 3007WFP-HC before and that was a good monitor too, just that it didn't have the internal image scaler.
I don't think there's a bad 30" monitor, all have been created as flagships and use the best tech the manufacturer had access to at the time.

@n7: I have a Toshiba laptop (Satellite P500) with a 18.4" 16:9 display and once you get used to it, it's just as good as the 16:10; there's nothing wrong with 16:9.

I don't think the difference in pixel pitch will be that bad. It's only ~101 dpi vs ~109 dpi.

I'd be more pissed about the loss of vertical pixels, 25% screen area, and the fact that it doesn't line up with anything for multiple monitor setups.

Here's a clue for those who say aspect ratio doesn't matter in large monitors: The 16x9 image produced by a 30" panel is 2.2" larger (that's 17% larger image area) than the 27" would be.

Nope. I work on hundreds of different 16:9 displays every year.

16:9 almost always comes at the expense of vertical viewing area, & a 2560x1440 display is yet another one of these scenarios.

You lose 160 pixels of height, with what gain, a stupid 16:9 ratio?

The same nonsense argument was used for 16:10 vs. 4:3, as basically the same thing happened.
You got way less vertical pixels & instead got more horizontal ones.

Now that said, for very large display widescreen of some kind is no doubt basically imperative.

But the whole wider & wider & likely 2.35:1 garbage we'll be seeing in the future is downright ridiculous.

For TVs/projectors i can see the appeal of wider & wider widescreen.

Doesn't make sense for PC use after a certain point though, & we've already reached that point IMO.

I had a 30" Dell back in 2007 and I thought it was way too big. The pixel pitch is smaller than a 24", so you don't sit further away, so your eyes have to move too much. So I would think 16:9 would be better-- less vertical eye motion.

I like all three of my 3008wfp monitors for eyefinity goodness, as was stated built in DP and that is needed for eyefinity.

I think my 3007WFP-HC is awesome and enjoy it. The one I thing I do not like is the anti-glare coating is somewhat noticeable. I've heard this is also the case for the LG 30"

Not sure if the 3008 has this issue, if it does not, I would go for that one.

when you say Anti-glare does that mean it has a gloss screen or matte screen?

Wow...glad I didn't end up jumping on the U2410 last month. Came pretty close. Not really bothered by it being 16x9 versus 16x10.

I'm interested in the Dell 27" myself, but at that price it's just a bit too expensive. If they brought it down by $200 or so, maybe...
