Best 60gb, 80gb or 128GB SSD?

So I have a HP DV7 quad core laptop with space for a second HD, and I want to install an SSD to run Windows 7 from. (Pretty sure at this point, the current HD is the bottleneck)

I've read reviews across the board but take them with a grain of salt as I am familiar with the lengths companies go to in order to insure positive reviews...

Basically I know about the "stuttering" issues and was wondering if anyone has any experience with an SSD in the 60,80 or 128gb range?

OCZ Vertex (or similar) or Intel X25-M G2 these days. TRIM + decent speeds. Personally I use 120GB Vertex drives, but that is only because the G2 160GB drives are hard to come by in the $400-500 range.

Yes that will do just fine, its the best ssd you can buy right now.

Yeah basically go Intel or Indlinx-based.

There's really not a huge difference from the slowest Indilinx SSD to the fastest, other than price, so i'd obviously be looking at the cheaper ones & those with best warranty/support.

Intel G2 - if you can't then: OCZ Vertex / Agility

I own both (went OCZ --> Intel) and can tell no real difference. I stick apps on my vertex and run games off my Intel with OS.

i have tried a 80gb intel g1 on a netbook running winxp and it seems like the atom 1600mhz is the bottleneck big time, compared to c2q 3700mhz

i would use a second tier or one of those mini pci-e 1x ssd on a netbook. the mini pci-e ssd will also allow you to use the hdd in tandem and boot from the ssd and access the hdd on demand.

Yes a SSD on an atom will almost certainly not be worth it. The CPU is too much of a bottleneck.

I'd say that any computer with PATA (without SATA) isn't worth considering for an SSD install.

The only SSD I've had experience with is the Samsung 64GB SSD and it didnt seem too impressive to me. But it seems like the newer SSDs are a lot better...

This Corsair 128gb SSD seems sweet:

220mb/sec Read, 200mb/sec write sounds like a very fast drive all around. They also have a 256gb version as well....

Anyone have any experience with this one?
