Best 6800gt card?

I'm looking for the best deal on a 6800gt card.
I will be using a cooler from Arctic Cooling, so the cooling abilities/noise-level of the cooler on the card is not an issue.

So which is the best card when looking at?:

1. Performance
2. Price
3. Overclocking abilities (remember I have the Arctic cooler)
4. Bundle
5. Misc (support etc.)

Thanks for your help!

the only concern really should be bundle, price and oc ability. They are all the same really as far as performance. The gainward golden sample is great as it is certified to oc to ultra speeds. Don't think they can be found anymore as gainward has stopped making video cards now . So really pick the card that appeals to you best for the other reasons. BFG has a lifetime warranty and comes oc'ed by 20mhz out the box. But any 6800gt is going to be able to oc from 350 to 370. It's all hit and miss. My XFX gt does 425 on the core but I can't get memory beyond 1010 (10 above stock) . Just hope you get lucky... most likely you will find a card that will do 400/1100 though. I'd pick based on price and bundle myself. But as far as performance they are all the same, the only difference is what clock speed one runs at compared to another.

I don't think the bfg warranty is going to matter. You'll be voiding any and all warranties when you install the NV5. Bundles all depend if you are going to buy the game, if not don't consider it. And oc's are hit and miss like realitytime said. I had 2 different bfg 6800gt's on my old system and they defintely oc'd differently. Luckily, they let me exchange the first one. You'll probably do better than most as long as you properly install your cooler. If I was you I would get the cheapest one to offset the price of your NV5.

If you are going to equip the card with custom cooling, and since as far as I know all Nvidia 6800GT cards are made on the same PCB, the cheapest one would be the best.

Leadtek has 2 good games. XFX has 2 DVI ports.

My Leadtek a400gt was bad out of the box, it is presently in the rma process. Unfortunately, these things happen. For me, since I'm not going to replace it, the quiteness and effectiveness of the cooler over the reference design was a major selling point. Also, seems that most, although not all, seem to get pretty good overclocks with this card. Probably due to the copper cooling, but probably shouldn't matter you. The NV5 should be better, but I don't know how much.

Don't mess with 6800GT. Just get BFG 6800 Ultra OC from Dell for $375. One of the best Ultras with factory OC at 425Mhz core and 1100Mhz memory. Cooling on the Ultras are very good and you won't have to mess with installing 3rd party cooler.

EDIT: Oops. Looks like Dell yanked the card and the deal. Well it was nice while it lasted.

I have heard of the DOA problems from Leadtek as well.. I love my eVGA if that helps you at all.

eVGA is huge, and there don't seem to be too many complaints about them, either.

this is true. my first 6800gt was a leadtek and it was doa.. it would boot but crash in any 3d app and color corruption etc. my xfx has been just fine.

How are these cards better than the Leadtek card? The Leadtek is the cheapest at $ 390.

Actually BFG does OC a bit better than most other cards, but it is loud as hell (I have the 2-fan model). I use expert tool to turn down the fan speeds but whatever. The warranty on the BFG shouldn't be a factor anyway since when you replace the hsf it voids the warranty (I'm pretty sure).

As usual, the Gainward cards own this bracket. I don't think they've stopped making them, I think they stopped selling them here.

Last thing on their news page is 2400GS beats X800, that from 11/16. You wouldn't be spreading some FUD would you Reality Time?

here is a link to canadian e-tailor, scroll down to the forum comments at the bottom, there are posts there from the staff at ncix.com stating gainward informed them they have halted all production on video cards.

http://www.ncix.com/forums/ind...verclockid=0#msg664273

yes I realize this is just one guy and not straight from gainward, but he says he got his info straight from them. And do you really think he/they would lie ? They are no longer available for purchase anywhere, beyond ebay. It's no biggie. I guess they couldn't make money. Remember they were basicly selling ultras for 6800gt prices

I don't necessarily believe a Canadian ETailer or one guy quoting him.

It wouldn't surprise me if it were true given they've dropped off the map, but I'll wait till I hear it from a reputable source to believe it. They could be reorganizing or in process of selling, they could be withdrawing from N. American market, who knows?

My PNY does 400/1Ghz which is only a 50Mhz OC on the core and none on the ram........I don't think a VGA Cooler is really going to help it. My idle is at 57C and load is around 76C.

I found some Gainwards on eBay... just today.

They will probably go for a pretty penny though.

to throw in my .02..... my eVGA 6800GT has been great so far, just FYI.
