Who makes the best 6800 GT cards? I see a deal for a PNY 6800 GT for $345 shipped from Provantage. Most people seem to think this is a great deal...They seem to be on back order till July 24th there website states. Anyone ever bought from Provantage before?

While I haven't tried any other brands, I am extremely happy with my bfg 6800gt I finally recieved today. Haven't attempted to oc it but its pretty quiet at stock speeds which was a nice suprise.

Ever heard of Leadtek.

Even if they are somewhere in the market for $ 450, i'll get it for any other Card.

The PNY deal from provantage is getting my consideration now but I am sure that if it I preordered now I would be behind so many people that the shipment that comes in will be filled ahead of me when the orders process. However, it is worth a chance since they might be the only company to have a good sale before Doom 3 releases.

I went with EVGA from their website $399. Within 90 days you can send it back and step up to an Ultra or their best card at that time (maybe 512 Mb model in October?). They give you the full price towards the new retail card as long as you return the card in good condition with all of the "stuff" that came with it.

Right now almost every manufacturer is shipping the reference design so it doesn't matter that much which card you choose. BFG's true lifetime warranty and great support make them probably the best company to buy from. I believe PNY has a 3-year warranty on their cards which is good, but I've never dealt with their support system. I have a BFG GT and a PNY GT and they both perform exactly alike in benchmarks and max overclocks. My PNY runs a few degrees cooler than the BFG in the same system, even though they have the same fan/heatsink.

Right now, go with the least expensive card. That may change after companies start making some changes to the reference design, but for now they're all pretty much created equal.

I would say BFG just because their warrenty. I have a PNY cause I got it for $301 from the CUSA deal after taxes and shipping. Either way I have heard both getting about the same clock speeds and performing very similarly

Do you know if PNY's 3 year warranty is as good as BFG's for those 3 years? I never keep a card that long so I was thinking it would work for me. I was just curious of the quality of the warranty conditions is less for the PNY.

My vote goes to PNY as my current card is a 5600Ultra ........... BUT

I tried Pre-Ordering my 6800gt from PNY's site lastnight but at the final checkout screen after all the info is added etc......... Press the checkout button , a red popup comes up & says now processing, this may take a few min. Then there's some type of internal server error !

Anyone else run into this problemo ?

anyone ever ordered a video card from ebay? They have a BFG & PNY for $300 right now? Worth the risk? Or should I just get the card from provantage?

For me it was the eVGA because it was the only one I could find in stock that didn't charge sales tax.

CompUSA had the PNY in stock but I didn't want to pay the ~$30 in tax.

399+17 (for 3 day shipping) and it includes a free copy of Far Cry, making it a mediocre deal.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense...buying the same GT card for $100 more....even if Leadtek makes the best overclocking card. If you are gonna spend that much, just get this card with Far Cry - Link

hahahaha...may seem silly, but I went with BFG because of the name. Seemed fitting since I was buying this for Doom 3.

I don't really like the reference cooler so I'm definitely waiting for cards like MSI, ASUS, Leadtek... I'll probably choose the Winfast. Leadtek made a really impressive cooler. Its appearance is a matter of taste but its cooling capacity and quietness are obvious. ASUS looks stylish and the second version cooler made by MSI features lean, neat design and presumably good performance/noise. So far, the only widely available card in my country (OK, "wide" availability might be an exaggeration) is PNY. I don't really want it though, it looks (and sounds) sooooo generic

I went with PNY because I believe everyone is pretty much using the reference board design that Nvidia uses, except for MSI etc, but their cards are like 450 - 500$ and that is retarded. I could get an ultra for a little more than that.

So, while I would prefer a BFG, the pny was too great of a deal. Also, I bet that the PNY will overclock just fine

We will see. The BFG isnt worth an extra 65$ plus tax to me.
